If the reports of the Preakness moving to 3 weeks after the Derby in 2027 are correct, this may have a very harmful effect on the Belmont. It will have to be moved forward a week and that will put Belmont week up against the US Open and Fathers Day.

Curious about the CDI Preakness news and the Laurel/Pimlico situation. Does the Preakness have assurances it is a triple crown mainstay? Does Laurel/Pimlico have guaranteed triple crown race status? Why redesign Pimlico for $400M to lose a triple crown race?

@Stepbitt Maryland state law requires the Preakness to be run in Maryland. Settled case law.

Churchill Downs will buy the Preakness for $85 million from 1/ST. It's a move that further shows 1/ST is washing its hands of horse racing, and - if I'm reading the CDI release correctly - it opens the door for Churchill to move the second jewel of the Triple Crown elsewhere.

@skipaway2000 I could be wrong, but I think its against the law in the state of Maryland to move the Preakness outside of the state.

#Preakness IP selling to CDI is bad news for Maryland racing imo. If anything slows the Pimlico rebuild, say hello to Preakness at Colonial... Preakness was the main driver for public investment in MD racing but this news takes a chunk of enthusiasm out of it #hotcakes

I’m not defending Tiger Woods, his accident was clearly his fault & he deserves to be held accountable, but based on this version of the body cam footage of his arrest, it sure seems like a non celebrity might’ve not been charged with a DUI. He seems not as out of it as expected.
