DNA mixtures are difficult to interpret because they’re not just one person’s DNA, you’re dealing with multiple possible combinations of the data peaks. Reason 4/4: Math Explosion Every added contributor multiplies the number of possible genotype combinations. At higher contributor counts, manual interpretation becomes harder to justify because there are so many plausible explanations. Case example: Ohio v. Slater Howell III DNA on a white plastic bag was a mixture from seven individuals, so it was sent for TrueAllele genotyping.
