SpaceX completed stacking of its Starship vehicle onto the Super Heavy booster this morning. Unfortunately, two sources say April 10 is no longer on the table as a launch date. In other words, there will be no Ten-Hop.

@skdh Yet that net gain of 1/100 is not what's being reported by scientists and mainstream media. Don't scientists have a responsibility to report their results accurately? And don't people like you have the responsibility to point out the lies we are being fed.

Total energy needed to pump the laser (according to what they said in the press announcement), about 300 MJ, so that's a total gain of about 1/100.

I don't know why everyone wants me to comment on the nuclear fusion news. It's all well and fine and a great experimental achievement and all, but as I've said before, that's energy in and out of the reaction, not the entire system. Great science, but far from application.

The launch cost for this mission is just $50.3 million. A decade ago it would have probably been triple that.

@SpaceX I don't know if it's the fisheye lens but it looks to me like there is a noticeable difference from this higher altitude from what we normally see. I'm glad they went ahead to go to the higher orbit. Just an amazing view.

@daily_hopper While that cartoon is cute, I think it's that unfair criticism. The only thing that the rocket got correct was keeping its nose pointed upwards despite the fact that one of its engines failed. It was a real testament to the strength of their thrust vector control and guidance.
