"YES! Winter mountain biking ...has been a surge in its popularity here in New Brunswick...
It’s a guaranteed cure for the winter blues!"
tourismnewbrunswick.ca/story/rad-wint…

Bryan Wilson@uptownini
@safe_hrm Its funny really, Pond hockey, Sledding, Toboggan, skiing, skating, ice-fishing... Canadians know how to do winter. But put 'em on a bicycle in winter, it becomes 'impossible'...😆

Thank you @marlogee for your reporting. Too often, these tragedies are a quick news release: someone has died, the end. It’s as if we expect deaths to occur on our roads. But now we know Hunter was new to town, handing out resumes. We should all be moved to act by this story 💔

Thank you @thewrightpage @InfoAMSJ for the opportunity to discuss this on your show. You can listen here cbc.ca/listen/live-ra…

Let’s build a culture of road safety in New Brunswick. Roads are for more than just cars: from bikes to road hockey. While we don’t know much about hockey, we do know @VeloNB has an excellent bike safety handbook. Read how you can share the road safely velo.nb.ca/wp-content/upl…

@intoxuser I understand what you’re saying. “If there is education needed then it needs to happen in cycling.” We can only partially agree. It needs to happen everywhere
English

@cyclingsj I want to be clear that I am not "blaming" anyone....but if your going to talk safety you have to acknowledge a great amount of cyclist do very little to consider their own safety. It was just an observation. If there is education needed then it needs to happen in cycling.
English

Hunter Seguin was handing out resumes.
Hunter just moved to Saint John.
He did not have a drivers license.
He jumped on his bike to improve his life and was killed.
Too often, this healthy choice ends up being fatal
It’s heartbreaking.
It’s not right.
It’s 100% preventable

@intoxuser I think we’re quick to pin blame on others:
“It was probably dark”
“Driver was probably looking at their phone”
“The road design is bad”
“Police need to do more”
At a macro level, all of the above needs to improve to save lives. Blaming one is just passing the buck.
English

@cyclingsj It is sad when a cyclist is injured or killed...and I have no idea the circumstances in this one. But I would say the majority of cyclist I see are ones that wear no helmet and have no lights or reflective clothes and do not follow the rules of the road. Just an observation
English

@ogden_gary All too common, unfortunately. Let your elected officials know. It’s important they hear from others
English

@cyclingsj It's so unfortunate that this has happened. I stopped using my bike because I've had way too many close calls.
English

@andrelli814 We know little and based on previous cases, it could be over a year before any details of the reconstruction are released. In the meantime, we can and must adopt an attitude that all collisions are preventable

English

@cyclingsj Do we actually know the details of the accident or are we just speculating now? I have heard that he had no helmet on, nor was his bike equipped with brakes. Is any if this true?
English

This was not an “accident.” Safety is not “expensive.” We need a new vision for safety. Let’s foster a culture of safety for others like Hunter who just want to make their lives better. #VisionZero

Loving the @cityofsaintjohn 's new road diet and 🚲 lanes on University Ave. It's amazing what even a little paint can do to make active transportation feel safer. Looking forward to the Main St. connection next!
