CytoPrevent defines a Closed Safety System for Administration (#CSSA) as a luer-designed product that connects the distal end of an IV line or syringe to a needless connector to protect from exposure to hazardous drugs.

The term #CSSA (Closed Safety System for Administration) has been proposed by CytoPrevent to emphasize devices specifically engineered for safe administration in compliance with SOP’s.

#CSTDs (Closed System Transfer Devices) were initially developed to protect pharmacists during compounding. To better qualify the different types of safety connectors and prevent confusion, CytoPrevent has proposed the term Closed Safety System for Administration #CSSA.
