I made top 8 at Merida Regionals with CHESNAUGHT! I am VERY happy I could finally use my beloved grass starter from generation 6 in a major to great success. My restricted of choice for this tournament was Calyrex Shadow Rider, in a different composition from the standard Fire/Water/Grass plus Raging Bolt core. After a loss in round 1, I managed to climb all the way to 8-1 to make top 16 and then top 8, where my dream unfortunately ended with a heartbreaking full paralysis in game 3, the exact moment I was about to win against a super strong player that played extremely well. It was a heartbreaking loss because I had similar losses in the regionals I participated last season, also a top 8 match and some RNG factor happened in the worst possible moment, but after reflecting on it, I am even more motivated to try again next time and get that title I'm hungry for. I also wanted to say a big THANK YOU to the Mexican community that reached out to me this weekend and made me feel super welcome. You guys were amazing 👏 And finally, my decision of using Chesnaught was not only because it had what I wanted on my team, it was also because I wanted to show newer players that IT IS possible to win with your favorites, as long as they offer something strong and valuable for your team. I had multiple people laughing at me when I told them I wanted to use Chesnaught, and well, I was not joking. Strong pokemon, weak pokemon, that is only a perception...
