Jackson Monahan, a student at @UCIrvine, evaluated how impurities affect the growth & stability of magnetic islands. His experiment will inform projections on plasma behavior in future commercial devices, providing the first controlled impurity-island interaction measurements.

DIII-D recently participated in the 27th PSI Conference. At this preeminent international conference on plasma-material interactions research, the team delivered engaging invited talks and posters, demonstrating the progress in fusion science & tech being achieved at DIII-D.
