@MI_Sprints I'd be curious to know what part of a yearly budget is set aside for damage resulting from this nonsense. Maybe I just don't get it, but wouldn't it make more sense to run somewhere else where destroying your shit on a weekly basis isn't such a constant drain on time and money?

@d_breezer Churchill wrecked dad with about 20 laps to go. Mark Gibson ended up with the lead about to win his first race, Churchill wrecked him too. That stuff didn’t fly back then.
Fired up the car to go back to the hauler and just drive straight into him on the cool down lap.Huge fight

Still one of the widest scenes I’ve ever seen at a race track. Fast forward to about 5-6 min left in the video and you’ll see my dad has his car pinned up against Jerry Churchill’s after the race. Huge fight broke out

@nascarman_rr I have family in College Station and visited in 2021. Turns one and two and much of the backstretch were already gone to make way for the housing development but I was able to explore what was left of the infield, front stretch, and turns three and four. Also snagged a souvenir.

@cammillerfilms I grew up in Bethel and have similar memories of the old Gold Star. Similar smells, smoke stained drop ceiling, and a regular group chatting in the corner at almost any hour of any day.

Whenever we went shopping in downtown Covington, when that was a thing, my mom and dad often included a stop at the Frisch's at 8th and Madison. It smelled of coffee and cigarettes and it was wonderful.

So weird. You must have just missed them because In 1980, when I was 6, I was at Cincinnati Children's for a few weeks with Guillain-Barré Syndrome and lucky for me, modern medicine allowed me to walk again.
