Golders Green is my local high street. It’s a great area, full of different cultures.
It’s a predominantly Jewish area and it’s a privilege as a non-Jew to live alongside such a warm and friendly community.
Since October 7th, there has been a visible increase in hostility towards the Jewish community. ‘Missing’ posters of relatives were torn down. Yellow ribbons removed from railings. ‘From the River to the Sea’ stickers plastered on lampposts. Verbal abuse in the street.
I’ve seen the fear grow in Jewish friends and neighbours, driven by political activists who have revelled in creating that fear. Enabled by others who are indifferent to the impact of their political bedfellows.
I hope they now appreciate the awful impact of their behaviour.
Saying ‘globalise the intifada’ isn’t just something that immediately identifies you as a dickhead, it is also a form of incitement.
If you say it, you are deliberately intimidating Jewish people.
Stop it, it’s vile.

Meet some of the world’s worst people. Terrorists that Israel is releasing in order to secure the release of our family members, kidnapped from their homes or from a music festival:
This is Iyad Abu al-Rub.
A senior commander of Palestinian Islamic Jihad in Jenin, he served as the head of the group’s
military wing during the Second Intifada. He was convicted for orchestrating a series of deadly
suicide bombings in Israel that killed at least seven people between 2003 and 2005, including:
🔴 A suicide bombing in Sde Trumot near Beit She’an (June 19, 2003)
🔴 A suicide bombing at the Hadera market (October 26, 2005)
He was also charged with planning additional suicide attacks — including one from a school in
Yokne’am — and with opening fire on IDF forces on multiple occasions.
Today, he was released as part of the hostage deal.

Eli Sharabi’s British wife Lianne and his two daughters Noiya (16) and Yahel (13) were murdered by his captors. They were found still embracing each other. The terrorists murdered the dog. They murdered Eli’s brother Yossi. They starved him and tortured him.
And now he is finally coming home, but Hamas murdered almost everyone he loved. His torment will continue for the rest of his life. And still there are people who cheer his captors. Even now.

On October 7th, Or and his wife Einav took shelter from Hamas rocket fire in a bomb shelter at the Nova Festival.
Hamas terrorists threw grenades and opened fire at the shelter, murdering Einav and dragging Or to Gaza, where he has been held hostage for over 480 days.
Their three-year-old son has remained alone in Israel, robbed of both his parents.
Look at what they did to Or.

@johncrossmirror Like in a workplace every day? You challenge your peers. He’s not his boss. And even if he was it’s his job to challenge if he thinks there has been a mistake (which I agree this was). The culture of PGMOL has to change. If they are afraid to challenge what is the point of VAR.
English

After all that… what a farce. Overturned in no time. I didn’t think it was a red, I just think it’s a mistake, no more. But the VAR should step in and suggest he looks again… but that’s why the VAR set-up is flawed. Is a more junior official really gonna challenge the top ref?
