The majority of Dominicans are absolutely light-skinned or tanned-skinned. As a matter of actual FACT, there are more white Dominicans than black Dominicans. According to the 2022 DR Census: 19% are WHITE 7.6% are black 73% are majority triracial mixed 👇

It doesn’t matter. There’s nothing an universal definition for what “black” is. In the USA “Black” is an ethno-national racial socio-political identity with governmental laws to protect it and reinforce it while in other countries like in DR is simply a skin color descriptor on only one specific skin tone. Is the USA anybody with some African admixture is automatically considered “Black” without taking into consideration people are who mixed with other ethnicities or race. Santo Domingo, DR was the first place in the Americas where “black” was first defined. We defined it before American Anglo-Saxon & African Americans. Therefore, our definition PREDATES those from the USA. Should our be considered the true definition?

But like those, it's presumably true from a cultural perspective, but more complicated from a genealogical, biological, and even a social perspective. To say it's only a social construct isn't honest.
