5.3 - Tottenham have won possession in the final third, on average, 5.3 times per game under Roberto De Zerbi in the Premier League so far - the highest average for any team under a manager this season. Press.

Ange Postecoglou appreciation tweet. Spurs aren't in this position if he was still there.

@Superspurs131 Yup. Almost as if being a self-confident Australian who speaks his mind can’t be a good manager, whilst a defensive, softly spoken Dane has to be. It’s extraordinary. And also highlights the blatant prejudices of many who work in football.

The atmosphere last night at Coopers was probably the best I’ve ever seen it. Both sets of fans were unreal and it genuinely felt like a game in Europe. This League still has life in it. #aleague

@AndrewNewts Agree, Andrew, every appointment a gamble. But it’s not like Spurs appointing Frank who was clearly an upgrade on Postecoglou. Marinakis has done plenty good at Forest, not least appointing Nuno, so we’ll see.

Compare and contrast the treatment. It’s quite remarkable. The benefits of being from a proper football country, I guess.

Same people: Ange - injuries don’t count TF - Injuries count Ange - good players TF - shit players Ange - naive TF - tactical mastermind I told you guys that people didn’t hate Ange because he was a bad coach, they had other reasons which had nothing to do with football

I do find it very interesting how much nicer the media are being to Thomas Frank during his downfall than they ever were to Ange. He seems to be getting a grace period that Ange was never afforded, the moment it started going badly for Ange the ridicule commenced. And he was a man who’d won numerous trophies and started with 26 points from his first 10 games. We’ve witnessed two of the most insipid performances from any club in the premier league era in recent weeks, with the two lowest xG’s in the entire league both coming from Frank’s Tottenham & the questions and scrutiny he’s receiving seem relatively tame. This is a man who’s never won a major trophy in his career. Who’s moved from a club with zero expectation. Who’s remit for the past 4 years has been to stay in the league, with anything else being a bonus. He’s managed a club that barely get an inch of a newspaper column when they lose, and when they beat a big club, the headlines will be about the club that lost. I want the questions tomorrow to be hard hitting and critical - Frank needs to be questioned. He needs to be asked if his tactic is to kick the ball long at every opportunity. He needs to be asked why we by pass our midfield and why he doesn’t include more progressive players in there. Because the PSG we play on Wednesday are not the same PSG we played in August. They are the best side in Europe. They’ve already put 7 past a Bayer Leverkusen side who would likely wipe the floor with us. If he doesn’t approach this in the right way then this could be a complete humiliation & another day that the fans have to suffer. God have mercy on us

I’m exhausted with this false characterisation of the 17th place finish. Now being used by our current manager to ease pressure on himself. That same side finished 5th the previous season. We played with Archie Gray and Ben Davies at centre back for 3 months. We then clearly rested our better players for the last 3 months of the league season in order to focus on the Europa League, which turned out to be absolutely the right decision by the way. Anyone with a good enough memory will know we were playing some fantastic football leading up to the injury crisis, with a few dodgy results thrown in there, and a couple of games we absolutely deserved to win that we didn’t. This isn’t to defend Ange. He’s gone, that’s over. But Thomas Frank has had a fully fit defence nearly all season. He also has plenty of attacking options, even if we are missing some important players. But going forward we are absolutely void of any ideas. And we have been for some time. That’s on him. To go to the Emirates and employ tactics that you would expect from a national league team playing in the FA cup against Arsenal is not only unacceptable, it’s a disgrace. This is even more important because we’ve already seen the same performance served up at home to Chelsea only a few weeks ago. Incredibly, we managed to be even worse today. The game plan was to sit back, hope for free kicks and then allow our goalkeeper, who’s weakest attribute is his kicking, to hoof aimless balls in to the box in the hope that a player might get his head on it. I have seen absolutely nothing so far from Frank to suggest he’s going to change his approach, and that’s why he needs to go now.

🎙️| Thomas Frank: “I want to apologise to the fans. We are very disappointed and unhappy with the performance today. Definitely a lot to work on still. It's worth remembering that we finished 17th last season.”
