@eamonnmorrisjr @ConnStevenson91 @junglemckee Gabriel backs into him… if he does impede the keeper he catches the ball… supposedly Raya would have caught the ball yesterday if he wasn’t impeded. So what’s the difference? Doesn’t matter if you hold the keepers arm or back into the keeper you are impeding him!

@ConnStevenson91 @junglemckee @eamonnmorrisjr Holding an arm or blocking a keeper is still impeding a keeper and Arsenal have been doing it flat out! First game of the season against United, if using yesterday’s rule from VAR, Saliba fouled Altay. The Martinez one as well, is a clear foul as well

Arsenal fans have probably been more loud about VAR than any other fan base since they actually cost us a title

@ConnStevenson91 @junglemckee Who’s the second Arsenal player to be foul? If VAR was used properly yesterday then the whole actions in the box at the corner should be looked at. Soucek is cleaned out of it by Havertz and Trossard is clearly fouling Pablo before a foul occurs on Raya!

@junglemckee @DaBraids Yes, but that's not what was being scrutinised. There was 2 fouls on West Ham players and 2 fouls on Arsenal players in the lead up to Raya getting grabbed. PGMOL 18 months ago reiterated they won't look for fouls in the box away from what's a material impact on where the ball is

@ConnStevenson91 There was multiple fouls occurring in that box with most of them being committed by Arsenal players… Pablo has two Arsenal players holding him if you look closely. All season Arsenal have done the same to opposition keepers by fouling them at corners and they got away with them!

Bruno Fernandes is a wonderful player and has had an excellent season - in the Premier League. If the Footballer of the Year award was a PL award, there could be few arguments about him winning.
But Declan Rice has won more games (35) than Bruno has played (34), is on course to play around half a season more than Fernandes in terms of matches and has won player of the match awards throughout the run to the Champions League final and has been key to Arsenal being in a position to win the PL with three games to go. Same could be said for Gabriel and David Raya.
Doesn't feel like the right winner to me, despite Fernandes' fine form, especially since the turn of the year.

With respect to my colleagues in the football writing industry, I am stunned that Bruno Fernandes has been named FWA Footballer of the Year instead of Declan Rice. Rice has literally won more matches this season (35) than Fernandes has even played (34).
