Arteta says the substitution of Saka at half-time was part of the plan to protect the winger. He didn't pick up an injury in the first half.

Arteta on Lewis-Skelly: "He fully deserves it. I have been tough on him. He had a spectacular season last year. He has had some difficult moments after that. He has stayed very humble and I knew he was ready. Today he really stepped up, I thought he was incredible."

These opening 25 minutes have been a reminder of Myles Lewis-Skelly's footballing superpower: his ability to relieve pressure by winning free-kicks. He has won three already.

That is Saka's first assist for Gyokeres in the Premier League. They have not really gelled this season but Arsenal will hope this is the start of a better connection.
