Exodus 23:1-3,6-7 “2 Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you give testimony in a lawsuit, do not pervert justice by siding with the crowd, 3 and do not show favoritism to a poor person in a lawsuit." 1/

@AnMattiStan Ok, is a Pope allowed to change Scripture? Not saying they have, but theoretically do they have the authority?

Alright, it's time to have some fun and let's try to do it in good spirit Catholics, what are your best arguments against Protestantism? Protestants, what are your best arguments against Catholicism?

@matthewdmarsden Many of them are mostly correct. I would have to be a prophet to know which one is best. The variety allows for freedom to worship in the way a person finds best without argument. If I had to worship in a congregation I disagreed with on secondary issues, I would be able to.

Honest questions. Which one of the thousands of Protestant denominations is the right one? Does it matter? Can you make your case on here without mentioning Catholicism? Are they Interchangable for you?

@AnMattiStan Yeah it's not fruitful. We were talking about what standards a Pope should live up to and you changed the subject. It's related of course, but you don't seem willing to discuss it.

@dahelmang I don't see any fruitful discussion here. I really wish we had more unity, but you can't get 5 different 'Baptist' churches to agree, let alone protestants and Catholics as a whole. Its a rough spot, because think how strong we would be if we all united.

@AnMattiStan Also, you have the freedom to disagree with the Pope now because of the Reformation. The Orthodox half and Martin Luther were excommunicated for that in the past. And the result of less tyranny is more variety in opinions. Freedom is good, but it has downsides too.

@AnMattiStan You have your own set of opinions on how a church should be run, that's fine. I am saying I will take honest disagreement over fake unity, especially when to be united you have to agree with a lie. I don't see where you are going here.

@AnMattiStan I have more in common with a Baptist than you do with Joe Biden or AOC. I don't like that we have multiple denominations, but honest disagreement is better than pretending to be united. And when you stop burning people at the stake this is the result. But it's better this way.

@dahelmang Hey, I'm just asking? You do understand that women 'clergy', churches allowing abortion, divorce, trans people etc is all because of the Protestant revolt. It all started there.

@AnMattiStan Of course he was a prophet. He spoke and wrote under the influence of the Holy Spirit, as the prophets did. To be an Apostle was to also be a prophet in the same way Abraham, Moses, and Jesus were prophets.

@AnMattiStan The Apostles were prophets, that's the whole point. That authority should never have been passed on to people who were not given the gift of the Holy Spirit in the same measure. It has led to so much corruption and suffering.

@dahelmang The pope is not a prophet though, he is the leader of The Church, and through Apostalic succession is the successor of Peter, and he has been given the power to bind and loose upon heaven and earth. You only see what you want to see. Its hard to have discourse with you folks.

@Genevie44927299 There is a fine line between honoring the dead and ancestor worship. Catholics walk that line and sometimes cross it. And when Protestants bring it up Catholics do nothing to sooth our fears.

@AnMattiStan Peter was a prophet. As an Apostle he spoke with the authority of the Holy Spirit. That is what a prophet is, someone who speaks for God.

@dahelmang Are you saying that Catholics believe The Pope is a prophet? Peter was conferred by Jesus Christ the keys to bind and loose here on earth, and in heaven.

@HandOfSet Plus the Israelites who ran the high places were just as upset with Hezekiah for tearing them down when he had his reformation that brought Judah back to God's law after centuries of compromise.

@HandOfSet So you are taking our idea that God's word is true and everyone who claims to speak for God should be checked against Scripture and comparing that to the golden calf from Exodus? That makes no sense.

@AnMattiStan What are the requirements in the Old Testament for a prophet? How does that compare with the Catholic expectations for the Pope? If he cannot meet the OT standard for a prophet why should he be treated as if he is speaking for God?

@GigaBasedDad I would love to see Protestants more united. I would love to see Catholics stop pretending to be united for the sake of the reputation of Catholicism. Theologically I believe Protestants are more correct than Catholics. But of course that varies.
