Unbelievably excited to announce that I received an @nhmrc Investigator Grant & @heartfoundation fellowship this round 🥳 This funding wouldn’t be possible without the food policy team @georgeinstitute, nutr & pub health allies & mentors. Look forward to sharing more in 2024!

Thrilled to receive a @heartfoundation postdoctoral fellowship! I also had the amazing opportunity to discuss my project with @9NewsAUS on using routine mammography to encourage more Australian women to engage in heart disease screening❤️🩺 @georgeinstitute @UNSW #HeartHealth

Dr @LaurenHouston_1 from @UNSW and the @georgeinstitute is developing a way to check a women's risk of heart disease at the same time as a routine mammogram. 📺Watch the story from @9newsaus 👇 (1/2)

A different way to start my Saturday morning. It's always a bit nerve-wracking to be on live TV, but I was grateful to join ABC Weekend News Breakfast to discuss our latest infant and toddler food research and the need for stronger gov regulation of these foods.

While this action is very welcome, there is a lot to tackle here. A range of reg and non-reg actions proposed. We need to get it right. If you are interested in submitting to the consultation but don't know where to start, please get in touch.

The quality of infant and toddler food stocked in Australian supermarkets leaves much to be desired. In fact, new research reveals none of these products meet @WHO standards. This is incredibly alarming and the AMA calls for urgent action. @FHAllianceAU theguardian.com/australia-news…

But there is hope - the first consultation is underway thanks to food ministers. A range of regulatory and non-regulatory actions are being proposed for these foods - and we need to get the priorities right.

It has been a busy media day over here at TGI with the release of this paper. Sadly, it's not much of a good news story, with 78% of products failing to meet nutrition requirements and none meeting WHO promotional standards.
Alexandra Chung@chung_alexandra

Commercial foods for infants and toddlers fail to meet WHO requirements for nutrition, yet they can display health and nutrition claims on-pack. We must change this. Great new paper by Elizabeth Dunford, Maree Scully & @daisyhcoyle @georgeinstitute onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…
