Extra clarity: “But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.” -Ephesians 5:24 Now, submission does have limits. A wife doesn’t need to submit to her husband in sin (in this case voting democrat). In such cases, she submits to her heads’s Head—Christ. But outside of clear accounts of sin, she ought to conform and be one with her husband in all things. “And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.” -Mark 3:25

In a Christian marriage, a wife should vote according to her husband’s direction. He is the head and they are one. Unity extends to politics. This is not controversial.

@bjorn_daporn @NateSilver538 You could spend your life verifying claims of malfeasance or falsehoods claims (see Trump). I don't blame him for not giving it credence in the current context. I'd also guess if a credible allegation of plagiarism was made, Fried would be for redressing it.

@bjorn_daporn @NateSilver538 In the story about the boy who cried wolf, too many examples of screwing around caused people to no longer want to check it out or verify it. Lots of gotcha attempts simply for political gain causes one to tune out.

This attitude that the provenance of a claim matters more than its veracity is illiberal, anti-intellectual and unscientific. Unfortunately it's becoming more common both in academia and journalism. nytimes.com/2023/12/20/us/…

@bjorn_daporn @NateSilver538 If there has been severe examples of plagiarism please share, I’m more than happy to change my mind on this. I’ll reiterate that if it’s an example like thanking someone for their support, I personally don’t care and don’t think she should be fired for that.

@bjorn_daporn @NateSilver538 I’m reading the article and the examples of plagiarism cited are pretty minor and not material to the research or content she published. So the analogy to the boy who cried wolf seems pretty apt.

The ultimate parasympathetic playlist.... 😊 Music 🎶 can have a powerful & underestimated impact on the nervous system, with certain types of music showing consistent positive influence on #HRV For example the attached study showed significant shifts in HRV in accordance with the type of music playing (#google_vignette" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">noiseandhealth.org/article.asp?is…) So, what you got? What songs come to mind that always leave you feeling chill, that always give you that #aaaah after listening to them? I'll start... "Teardrop" - Massive Attack. What are some other 'must adds' to my ultimate parasympathetic playlist? 🙏

A petition by students was launched to "investigate" me as a member of Northeastern University's PhD program. I will not apologize for denouncing the slaughter, rape, and beheading of Israeli civilians. Please share. This is the type of harassment Jewish students and faculty are facing. change.org/p/safety-conce…

@Alan_Couzens I’m 47 years old so max heart rate should be 173. I’ve had it up over 190 and even up to 196 over the past six months (measured with a Garmin chest strap). Not very accurate.

Even worse... 220-age is just the starting point... Then most folks multiply it by a similarly arbitrary percentage that is unlikely to line up with the threshold/level of exertion that you're trying to approximate. It's a comedy of errors. Only one way around it... Test!
Nassim Nicholas Taleb@nntaleb

Medicine #FooledbyRandomness DuJour: The heuristic 220 minus age for max heart rate is UNUSABLE. One of those stochastic measures deemed deterministic. It explains <20% of the variations! See my video on misusing the law of large numbers going from the general to the particular.

You need to be running slower. So slow that you barely break a sweat. Slow enough to carry on a conversation with your friend the whole time. Shuffling your feet for 2 hours and feeling like you did nothing at all. You need to become a jogger.
