@industrypolitic I respectfully disagree. The reason why - I don’t think his fans exist on here in the manner by which his detractors do. Most his fans are probably 35 plus and are not tapped into Nicki’s tweets, the rumors about the Drake beef, or what Tory’s dad said. They don’t see it.

Also- Social media didn’t build Jay-Z, true. That was a different era, different rules. But let’s not get it confused, the same space that didn’t create you can absolutely hold you accountable/ remove him. Because what happens after the music matters. And when people start looking at how certain artists were treated Drake, Nicki, and Tory? He went from representing something real to moving in silence behind the suits and boardrooms. So no, it’s not about where you came from, that ship sailed- It’s about what you became when he thought nobody was watching. And now everybody is. He's a selloit in my book, and I know in many others too!

Jay Z didn’t address anything of substance in that interview but expects black people to blindly champion him as a victim of politics and social media commentary. The reasoning as to why is simple-he knows he has trained the algorithm to only expect transparency and accountability from Nicki Minaj. Well, that’s how he thought the plan would work…🫠 I am of the opinion that Jay-Z was an integral component of the now-infamous Kendrick and Drake beef. He knew what was coming down the pipeline for him and put the battery in Kendrick back. For 2 years, the world screamed “ certified pedophile” at Drake, but now it’s nothing for Jay-Z, who is on an actual deceased certified pedophile list. So now he is downplaying the beef and the repercussions of it for his own life and career. He hid behind his daughter in that interview and never mentioned his wife’s Beyoncé name not once. He is on a solo mission to rebrand because payment has become past due with interest on the cultural currency he leverages for his personal gain. Jay-Z, in my opinion, is scrambling. For the first time, his back is against the wall, and Beyoncé’s IG posts aren’t working. No clean-up on aisle 6 for you, and at some point, Beyoncé will have to speak. Silence doesn’t always mean unbothered; sometimes it’s being complicit. Jay-Z is operating in crisis mode. He is so used to controlling the media and having narratives spun on others as he sits back and profits from the tearing down. Do you all realize how much cultural currency Beyoncé gained with the almost decade-long hate campaign of Nicki Minaj? How, you ask? Beyoncé shines best when she is compared to Black women that Roc Nation deems unworthy of respect. There is a section of Black people that will ignore the truth no matter how you spell it or lay it out. That’s the sad part. Jay-Z knows some of you won’t read behind the headline and only see the shiny object being waved in your face. Facts be damned.
