@JonKeevy I thought it was the Muir Street mosque too, because it seems to exactly line up with the mountain's profile from that angle. To get above the modern skyline, use a streetview point on the bend of the N2.

So far the most convincing I've found is the Muir Street Mosque - this is a photo before remodeling in the 80s. The minaret has the onion dome and octagonal sides - but the columns are distinct and don't match.

Any Cape Town architecture nerds able to help me place this picture? Angle on the mountain leads to the city bowl. Google-able mosques don't fit the profile. Any ideas?
