Roger I work in construction for a subcontractor and union influence has continued to put upward pressure on trades rates. They offer more on union controlled commercial sites and that flows through to residential. Now they think they’re worth $1000 a day type stuff. Usually unlicensed and often uninsured as well. Trade rates have to come down because material costs won’t. The cost of building is getting unsustainable.

Labor’s budget frames changes to property investment as “intergenerational fairness”, but I think that misses the bigger issue. With vacancy rates near 1.1 per cent and strong migration continuing to add pressure to housing demand, taxing mum-and-dad investors won’t solve Australia’s affordability problem. Keep up to date via my blog: bit.ly/4naFwE4 #housing #budget #labor #costofliving #finance #investing #montinvest

@KevCorduroy Last question of interest from the election- who gets the presidency? Labor may try to offload it and reduce opposition numbers on the floor? Dennis Hood rumoured target.

@AntonyGreenElec @KevCorduroy @Kosdan The independent did a deal with libs for preferences and then reneged. Libs couldn’t change the HTV. That won him the seat. Confusing why ON wasn’t preferenced above the independent as better to lose to Labor than an independent who is harder to defeat.

@Kosdan We have election night flows for Kavel and the Independent will win. We have no preference count in Hammond but with the Liberal finishing third, One Nation will win Hammond. The first preference counts in MacKillop put One Nation ahead but too close to call.

I hear that after testing how preferences are flowing from third and fourth placed candidates today, the Electoral Commission will begin conducting the following counts tomorrow - Kavel - Labor versus Independent Hammond - Labor versus One Nation

Within hours of the Epstein file release, a superPAC funded by Israel-first billionaires Miriam Adelson, Paul Singer, and John Paulson, who himself appears in Epstein’s black book, bought another $800,000 of TV ads against me. I’ll still win, but if I lose, it was worth it.

Has anyone seen good faith rebuttal or explanation from @guardian or @cnn or @nyt explaining how murder of George Floyd is worth whipping up national riots and 1000s of articles, but not one bottom page 16 article here?
Konstantin Kisin@KonstantinKisin

The media silence on Iryna Zarutska's murder is one of the most disgusting acts of lying by omission I've ever seen. From the people who gave you the Daniel Penny wall-to-wall negative coverage and the BLM moral panic. It's true what they say: you don't hate the media enough.

@scientificecon How much do you know about energy prices in Australia, its property bubble and likelihood of economic disaster in the future? Banks hugely tied up in property.

Another week, another display of Labour socialist ideology.  No surprise that the outcome of this week’s ‘productivity’ round table was…wait for it…tax the rich! How about a framework and guardrails for your profligate spending?  How about you slow migration? How about cracking down on the thousands of shops insisting on cash only? How about a tax on revenue instead of profits so that multinationals don’t transfer their profits offshore? How about we all share in the ownership of our fossil fuels and base metals, instead of enriching two families?  Hey Albo, the problem with socialism is you eventually run out of other people’s money - with apologies to M.Thatcher.

@rjmontgomery We need one state, or territory to trial it and the country can see the results. Self interest trumps common sense in this country so we’ve got to get around that..

Imagine powering 1 million homes for 60 years… Well, that’s exactly what Rolls Royce’s new Small Modular Reactors could do — with zero emissions. Compact, factory-built, and faster to deploy than traditional plants, they’re redefining clean, reliable power. The question is – will Australia get on board? bit.ly/3JwV6d7 #greenenergy #montinvest

Ron Paul is the richest man in America. Imagine being 90 years old, standing at a podium, giving a lengthy extemporaneous talk about your favorite topic, to an adoring crowd brimming with intelligence and deep, sincere appreciation for your ideas. Surrounded by the (sixty-five!) members of your immediate family, including your Senator son, in a town that treats you like their literal king. Ron Paul’s wealth is the type you cannot buy. One of the few living men I would call “Great” in every sense of the word.

10 Shocking Stories You Weren’t Supposed to Hear Today #10 - Gen. Flynn says Israeli soldiers were told to STAND DOWN “at the exact hours” on October 7th. “Something broke down, and it wasn’t because of mistakes,” he said. “It was an INSIDE thing.” Steve Bannon’s reaction was basically a jaw to the floor. “Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Hang on. You can’t drop a bomb like that,” he responded. “You’re saying that you’re hearing there’s testimony or documents or actual evidence that certain elements of the Israeli military were told to stand down?” Bannon asked. Flynn replied firmly: “Steve, I have personally walked that border. I have been down at those areas, and I know the details of how the Israelis—one of the most secure borders in the world—how they do their operations. So I know that. So something broke down, and it WASN’T because of mistakes.” Flynn called himself Israel’s “biggest fan,” but says what he’s hearing doesn’t match the official story. Victoria’s Labor gov hits small businesses with a NEW land tax. Freelancers, startups, & side hustlers now face bills worth thousands, just for working from home. With a $194 bilion debt, they’re squeezing everyday Aussies during a cost-of-living crisis. Melbourne’s housing market is a mess – skyrocketing prices, high taxes, & construction costs soaring. Immigration fuels demand, but red tape & labour shortages choke supply. Meanwhile, our tax system punishes hard work, with top rates kicking in at just 2x average earnings. It’s time for bold reform! Why aren’t we sharing in our resource wealth? A ‘Sharing Our Resources Tax’ could fund better childcare, education, & healthcare for all. Let’s stop the short-termism & vested interests. Demand 4-year terms for better policy. Both parties are failing us. Without change, Australia’s heading for lower productivity & lower living standards. Let’s fight for a fairer, smarter future! bit.ly/4lScBCR
