It’s also really frustrating when people who are Not Good People are given the ability to say they’ve “decided to move on” in instances where they’ve been asked to leave because they’re problematic. I get the legal complextities, but still.

One of my post-theatre reflections is that I worked at a few places where there was poor/problematic leadership - and either at that place or in their next job said bad leaders have been quietly moved on. Maybe the industry has been looking for the wrong things in its leaders?

In a world where much artistic leadership has been diluted, done away with or is occupied by problematic/inauthentic people, we need the likes of @mrdavebyrne and leadership like this.

And a new PATTERN emerges: theatre that delay appointing Artistic Directors and ‘experiment’ with vague artistic leadership structures seem to be getting into all sorts of issues. You might think having actual ADs is something that’s been tested and really necessary….

Big up Stef O'Driscoll and all those working with her on MSND. All power to artists who stand by their principles and believe in the stories they're telling, and get in the bin to any who tries to slience those voices.

@TheSquareBall I’ll take a window like this over spunking £80m on the likes of Roca, Sinisterra, Adams and Rasmus a couple of years ago. Lower risk, higher potential rewards, doesn’t cause a PSR headache (and no bloody loan clauses).
