When Brian Simmons produced The Trashin Translation, what safeguards were in place? Normally, when a new Bible translation is produced, it goes through a rigorous, multi-layered process involving committees of qualified scholars, linguists, and theologians who work directly from the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts. These teams provide built-in accountability, cross-checking one another’s work through multiple rounds of peer review to safeguard accuracy. and minimize personal bias. So when it comes to The Passion (Trashin) Translation, the obvious question is this: where are those same safeguards—what recognized committee, what transparent review process, and what meaningful checks and balances were actually in place?

Here's a quote from WOF teacher Billy Joe Daugherty: "The knowledge of your covenant rights and privileges for being whole will enable you to stop the destruction of sickness, and the power of God will heal you." Daugherty died in 2009 at the age of 57.

WOF teacher Buddy Harrison (son-in-law of Kenneth Hagin) died in 1998 at just 59 years old. This excerpt comes from a PDF my friend Steve Johnson sent me—part of the research notes for a video we’ll be recording this Saturday (Lord willing). Read the Amazon book description carefully. It presents the familiar Word of Faith Movement claim that through the right kind of prayer, you can unlock miracles, overcome any situation, and see your prayers answered. If these principles are true… why didn’t they work for Buddy?

On the left, Don Piper's book about his made-up trip to Heaven. 90 Minutes in Heaven came out in 2004. On the right, Gabe Poirot's book about his made-up trip to Heaven is coming out now. Not only are these stories unoriginal, so are the book covers. C'mon, false teachers - give it a better college try on your books than this.

Calling out false teachers isn’t “nonsense”—it’s obedience. What’s actually unloving is staying silent while people are led into error. Scripture doesn’t give us that option. In the Epistle of Jude, we’re told to take this seriously: “have mercy on those who doubt; save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh.” That’s not a call to ignore false teaching—it’s a call to confront it for the sake of those being deceived.

The Passion Translation (NOT really a translation) is literally NAR Propaganda. It is dangerous, and it adds to Scripture.

Isn't it ironic how popular teachers call those who do discernment "divisive," when Jude says that the false teachers are the ones who are divisive? Jude 17–19 (ESV) 17 But you must remember, beloved, the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. 18 They said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.” 19 It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit.

The Gospel should stand out as the most prominent teaching in the Church, in order that Christ’s merit may be well known and faith, which believes that sins are forgiven for Christ’s sake, be exalted far above works. Augsburg Confession, Article 26, paragraph 4

@MikeWingerii Last week I learned that Brian Simmons has a yacht, which makes sense because his "non-profit" Passion & Fire Ministries owns a beach house parsonage inside the Redington Shores Yacht and Tennis Club gated community.

Frank Sandford was a dangerous cult leader who inspired the founder of Pentecostalism, Charles Fox Parham. But what most people don't know is that Sandford's people experienced the gift of tongues exactly one year earlier than Parham's students. Parham worked with Sandford at Sandford's Shiloh cult just six months before the famous Stone's Folly "Pentecostal Outpouring." Steve Kozar from @KozarSteveMUC joins me in this video.
