Rick Bieber split one of his fields in half — one side got no fertility, and the other side got the best management practices. Yield went down 10-15% in the first 3 years on the side without inputs, but by year 4 it started going up. ow.ly/R4eZ50VgYxF

Tales from the Feedyard (Uncensored)
Got this ol 67 model in for a couple afternoons of love. It’s been rode hard and put up wet around this place for the last 30 years. Anyone that’s worked here since 1994 has put their time in on it. It goes back to work tomorrow.

Fixed the discharge chain and it’s 65 degrees in here and 6 degrees outside. What an amazing experience. I’ve gotten so used to just being miserable I didn’t know any better.

What’s the approx cost to build a 60x80x18 post frame building? Heated and insulated but mostly just the plain shell

@jasonmauck1 I used this system to fall strip till manure on a rented farm 12 mi away from barn. Made round on 80 w/20 strip till bar mounted on back of 5300 gal tank. Worked well but I have a tough time getting manure every year, everyone wants the good 💩

@jasonmauck1 Around here there a a few guys who custom haul with semi tankers, getting manure 8-10 mi away from barn. You can haul farther, just costs more. Got pump and spout right on tanker so can unload into field tanker, 7000 gal in about 3-4 min.

Why can't we have intelligently designed manure equipment in the USA? Or do we? Who sells it? Wide row, in crop application. Low rates, speed, tram rows. If I had this on 40' I'd be putting 50lbs of N in the middle of my wheat rows

@jasonmauck1 Agreed, the fields close to the barns rarely can utilize all of what the manure provides. Instead of mounting a toolbar on back of a tank you could pull a tank behind a mounted toolbar on tractor, may need dolly system for hitch. Other question is pushing manure that far …

There is tech to keep applying in the same fields next to the barns that we have to the point of diminishing returns because the P and K levels are plentiful I want to be able to apply 700 gallons 40 or 60' wide to rented or ground a few miles away and leverage my soil levels to make profitability higher on both pieces of land. The other problem is trust I dont know how long the system stays in place (CAFO). I can sell a tank

Organic Sunflower harvest. These were planted June 26th. We received 4+ inches of rain that night. I gave up on them for a couple weeks. They are far out performing my expectations! And I love the head @mattygilbert .
