Newly released diary entries from Dr. Anthony Fauci reveal his private thoughts as the COVID-19 pandemic unfolded. Sen. Rand Paul released the entries ahead of Fauci's upcoming Senate testimony. In the entries, Fauci chronicled his day-to-day role during the pandemic, reflected on his newfound celebrity and wrote about his tensions with President Trump. In one entry, Fauci wrote that it was "not hyperbole" to say he was "the most famous and talked about person in the country." He later added: "[Trump] seems to be enamored of me even though I am taking the spotlight away from him."
I am deeply appalled and angry to see “Firework” used on the @WhiteHouse TikTok account as a backing track for video footage of military strikes. I did not approve this, I was not asked, and I absolutely do not condone it. I wrote this song to be an anthem of hope, healing, and inner strength for people going through their darkest personal moments. To see a message of self-worth and upliftment weaponized to soundtrack destruction and violence is a complete violation of everything my song stands for. My music is for bringing people together, not celebrating warfare.
