I am recruiting for an online mental health community for LGBTQ+ young adults of color* (18 to 29). The community will be a 30-day intervention focusing on the well-being of LGBTQ+ people of color using daily permission slips for oneself. #RadicalPermission

Also a big shout out to my chair @planierunc for being an incredible mentor and friend throughout this process. A gifted academic guide/overall high-quality person, I’ve learned so much about doing this work with competence and kindness from him the past few years. Thanks Paul!

Excited to share that I successfully defended my dissertation last Thursday! The whole process was incredibly encouraging and underlined how brilliant and generous my mentors, colleagues, and family are. My life and work are better and more full because of all of them.

Also so meaningful to have shared the day with my cohort mates who have become family, @abforte28 and @hcdawes. That they were there for all the laughs, processing, and celebration without me ever having to ask is indicative of the phenomenal scholars and people they are.

Thrilled to share a new article entitled "The relationship between connectedness and mental health symptoms among Black youth involved in the juvenile justice system: a random-intercept cross-lagged panel model" tandfonline.com/eprint/HZVBMZF…

We found associations with insecure housing risk for youth who age out of foster care after their parents' rights are terminated--leaving them legally related to no one. The work was done with and enriched by amazing collaborators @mel_villodas @Kirsten_Kainz and Annie Francis.

Early January has been so hectic that I haven't had the opportunity to share that I'll be joining @UGASocialWork as an assistant professor in the fall! My family and I are so thrilled to return to Dawg country that we decided to add another little dawg to the pack.
