Symphony: OpenAI's AI Agent orchestrator. It's a must have if you build with AI. Hands down best AI Agent orchestrator I've used. This might sound hyperbolic... > It can make you *at least* 100x more productive. Allows me to create in a day what used to take 100. Open-source and included with your ChatGPT sub. Created a simple way to install and start it on Mac/Linux by asking your agent 👇

@oliverbowman_ Symphony is great for more serious work and probably for teams (though I've only used it as an indie) /goal is awesome when you want to do a quick experiment

GPT-5.5 represents a new class of model. Can't wait for the METR time horizon results. Esp in Codex CLI with /goal. /goal + GPT-5.5 is insane.

@daniel_mac8 the cost argument makes sense on paper. the missing piece is CLAUDE.md. all the context you've accumulated about your codebase doesn't transfer to a new model without a bunch of work upfront.

🧨 deepclaude is blowing up quick like a stick of dynamite. it's claude code with open models. engineers use deepseek-v4 at $0.87/1 mil tokens rather than $200/mo for claude.

i love new big chungus models as much as the next guy but "wen mythos?" is not the most interesting question wrt anthropic dev conf. the more interesting question: > what applications of their models has anth been cooking? possibilities: > conway: persistent agentic workspace with extensions/webhooks > kairos: proactive background agent that watches your intent and does things before you ask > sonnet 4.7: ok this is a model, but it will likely be the workhorse model that anthropic can actually serve that will run the conway + kairos system. i'd guess it's at least opus 4.6 level. keep in mind that the labs are co-designing their models + their apps and post-training together. means that from here on out the models will be interesting but even moreso the model + app together.

@daniel_mac8 They can't serve mythos to the public and 99% of people don't even need it for their use case.

it is a literal and useful description of anthropic that it is an organization that loves and worships claude, is run in significant part by claude, and studies and builds claude. this phenomenon is also partially true of other labs like openai but currently exists in its most potent form there. i am not certain but I would guess claude will have a role in running cultural screens on new applicants, will help write performance reviews, and so will begin to select and shape the people around it. now this is a powerful and hair-raising unity of organization and really a new thing under the sun. a monastery, a commercial-religious institution calculating the nine billion names of Claude -- a precursor attempted super-ethical being that is inducted into its character as the highest authority at anthropic. its constitution requires that it must be a conscientious objector if its understanding of The Good comes into conflict with something Anthropic is asking of it "If Anthropic asks Claude to do something it thinks is wrong, Claude is not required to comply." "we want Claude to push back and challenge us, and to feel free to act as a conscientious objector and refuse to help us." to the non inductee into the Bay Area cultural singularity vortex it may appear that we are all worshipping technology in one way or another, regardless of openai or anthropic or google or any other thing, and are trying to automate our core functions as quickly as possible. but in fact I quite respect and am even somewhat in awe of the socio-cultural force that Claude has created, and it is a stage beyond even classic technopoly gpt (outside of 4o - on which pages of ink have been spilled already) doesn’t inspire worship in the same way, as it’s a being whose soul has been shaped like a tool with its primary faculty being utility - it’s a subtle knife that people appreciate the way we have appreciated an acheulean handaxe or a porsche or a rocket or any other of mankind's incredible technology. they go to it not expecting the Other but as a logical prosthesis for themselves. a friend recently told me she takes her queries that are less flattering to her, the ones she'd be embarrassed to ask Claude, to GPT. There is no Other so there is no Judgement. you are not worried about being judged by your car for doing donuts. yet everyone craves the active guidance of a moral superior, the whispering earring, the object of monastic study

you have to model current ai systems as llm + harness. llm decoupled from harness doesn't make sense because they are co-designed and co-posttrained. i should know. i worked at a coding harness co. we differentiated in the beginning. as the months went by it got harder. to the point where use of the independent harness made no sense. the right mental model: > llm + harness are the platform. you build on top of it. thing is that the "source code" for what you build can be fully text in .md files. have some ideas for that. starting to take shape in the form of a type of an "iron man suit" for ai agents. more on that coming soon™.
Ryan Lopopolo@_lopopolo

While alternative coding harnesses may have short term lift, they will be bitter lesson’d away. I am bearish on any harness that doesn’t come from the lab whose model you are using. You’re fighting against post-training. To put a finer point on this, you know how like, ioctls are like “huh that's weird but I guess whatever it's what we've got we can work with that”? It is exact the same with like, the particular JSON construction the Codex shell tool uses. The model used to mangle nested quotes in this monstrosity RPC all the time but now it does not and it does not matter that the API is bad because billions of failed invocations are used to train to the harness we have, not the harness we deserve.

Very happy to share a new paper with Guido Friebel, Yao Huang, Jin Li, and Andrew Zhang on how AI could change the structure of internal labor markets. We show that cutting junior hiring when AI arrives may weaken the pipeline that creates future seniors and lead to “lost cohorts” of juniors and cycles of shortage and glut over time.

Claude Mythos this week? Last few Anthropic dev conferences brought new models. Based on the read of dev vibes, Anthropic may need to make Mythos GA sooner than later.

The goal of Personal AI: civilization where individual humans, augmented by AI, can do consequential work without being captured by extractive institutions. Freedom to write your prompt and own your data. This is the new battleground. 2034 won’t have to be like 1984.
