I actually felt nothing but sympathy for the Chancellor today. Both sides of the house completely out of line for not recognising that ministers are human beings.

I’m no fan of Rachel Reeves policies, but seeing her so vulnerable and clearly under huge strain, left ti struggle on the front bench as she did was heartbreaking. Politics can be a cruel game to live and work. Today is a reminder that beneath it all are people with feelings.

Politics is very cruel, and too often treated as a game.
No one should take glee in anyone so obviously struggling.
Rachel shouldn’t have been put on the frontbench today. Those around her should have protected her as is their duty as her friends and colleagues.
They should also have recognised a Chancellor’s demeanour affects confidence in our economy which they have a duty to protect as well.

Our baby daughter was born last week on Tuesday 29th April.
We’re both still in hospital, and it’s been a journey, but optimistic our recovery is heading the right way.
