Paperless does not improve learning. Just making something digital is at best the same, possibly worse since it was designed for paper. Digital CAN be better but you have to CHANGE the activity to take advantage of that. #edtech
So often we talk about backward design — and if we are honest, we are really starting by deciding what product we want in order to get a grade. We need to start with assessment, yes, but with a true understanding of what assessment is.
Today we slowed down and worked on our projects. I decided to use asynchronous time to check in with small groups to see how everyone was feeling. Now that I'm done I just realized it's #BellLetsTalk ... what a coincidence, almost made me cry!
My student just taught me how to put exponents on google doc. You press CTRL+period and then type your number. I am so grateful even though the unit is done. I asked her where she learned it... she said #TikTok

we are fed info and content based on our likes and interests which creates dangerous levels of confirmation bias & ignorance
These are the words affecting my Ss this week. I told them to listen with their eyes, ears, & hearts. We listened to stories & focused on the FMNI voices. What does voice mean? How do we acknowledge others' voices? Next we focus on writing & our voices. How can we make a change?
