Arsenal fans trying to make out it was some completely experimental, rogue line-up is hilarious… It included the club captain, Gabriel, 3 other players that cost at least £45m and one of the best wonderkids ever produced from their academy. Not to mention Lewis-Skelly, Martinelli and Mosquera. Defeats happen, just take it on the chin. Still a lot to play for this season, and you’re in a fantastic position in the league!

There seems to be a surprising lack of anger about the fact that the U.S. President is driving us all off an economic cliff, hundred of millions are going to find life much tougher as a direct result of what this man decided to do, and unlike Iran, the U.S. is a democracy!

My read on the Iran war endgame:
The final settlement will formalize what the battlefield already decided.
Iran gets permanent leverage over the Strait of Hormuz. In return: uranium enrichment stops, missiles capped at the current 2,000km range, and sanctions lifted immediately.
The non-aggression pact gets guaranteed by China or the UN and not Washington.
There is no other realistic outcome. Every escalation from here further weakens the U.S. position, not Iran’s.
Tehran has already won the strategic war, even as it loses the military one.

Just boarded Budapest flight, fell into talk w/fellow middle aged US conservative. He headed in for Danube cruise. He sd “I love Trump, but…” then expressed deep disgust w/Iran war and president’s conduct of it. I told him to prepare for strong anti-U.S. feelings in Europe.

Retro football was much better too. Invalid carriages in the corner, packed terraces, cigarette smoke all over, and the occasional dog (mainly jack russells) on the pitch and no premier league/ VAR.
