Goodland to Hays to Oklahoma State Talexa Weeter is headed to Oklahoma State. The Goodland HS alum and Fort Hays State standout, coming off a historic season, will take her talents to the Big 12 for her senior year. Out of high school, Weeter had zero major Division I opportunities. Now, she’s heading to the Big 12. Weeter was named the 2025-26 D2CCA Ron Lenz National Player of the Year and a First Team All-American after leading all of NCAA Division II in scoring at 27.5 points per game, ranking second across all levels of women’s college basketball. Three years ago, she was a Sports in Kansas Top 5 All-Classes selection and 3A Player of the Year at Goodland, where she led the Cowgirls to back-to-back state titles under Bill Biermann. At Fort Hays State, she shattered a 20-year MIAA record with 852 points, one of the top single-season totals in DII history. She scored in double figures in all 31 games this season, with 26 games of 20+, 12 games of 30+, and two games over 40, including a 46-point performance in the NCAA Tournament. Weeter also averaged 8.9 rebounds per game with 10 double-doubles, shot 51.5 percent from the field, and earned five MIAA Player of the Week honors. She will now play for Hoxie alum Jacie Hoyt at Oklahoma State, bringing it full circle with two northwest Kansas ties just 72 miles apart.
