1/17 There's this weird tension in sociology that when scholars of Color talk about racism, scholars racialized as White interpret this as a neglect of social class. This interpretation shows a lack of understanding about racism and promotes Anti-Blackness.

@bekcrhea I've heard good things about those models from swimmers: they're accurate at calculating distance in indoor pools. My watch has the option to measure swimming but I'm not sure how accurate it is. It's not the greatest at indoor tracks or treadmills but I can calibrate manually.

@daniellelorenz I ordered a Garmin that is rated for swimming! I'll see how it does. I forget to monitor when all I have is the pulse ox. by the time I've grabbed the pulse ox & hold still to put it on, it won't have the same reading as when I was moving. My fingers are too slim to keep it on.

I know I need to get a "fitness tracker" (ie apple watch, Samsung watch, Garmin, whatever) because of POTS but I'm very concerned I will get too scrupulous about it and also that I will break it doing pottery or swimming. Also, I hate Apple products.

It's day 211 of reminding the @CityofEdmonton that barriers to accessibility for persons with disabilities are NOT merely inconveniences. They are human rights issues. It's not acceptable to respond to human rights violations with "Sorry for the inconvenience". The city certainly wouldn't apologize for the inconvenience if a person wasn't allowed to participate in the grand opening of a city facility due to their skin color, yet this is what they say when it's due to a disability. So we're calling on them to provide proper training on inclusivity and ableism to staff, managers, decision makers and council members. Because maybe if they know better, they'll do better. #InclusionMatters @YEGMayorOffice #yegcc
