40 years ago today, Saturday 3rd May 1986. Over 10,000 Reds headed to Stamford Bridge knowing a win would seal our 16th league title. It became one of the most illustrious days in Liverpool's history. 🧵

@JayMcKenna87 It may not appease us on the increases fully (or make it right) but it’s the kind of recognition (the largely unsaid factor I think people are crying out for here alongside the £££) that could soften the blow and be a rare mutual victory for supporters, club and sponsors.

@JayMcKenna87 It’s so obvious to engage partners for a win-win. Imagine they said something like for every 10 years of having a season ticket you get a free Carlsberg/Coke/Cadburys to redeem in the ground when you want next season.

Spot on this from @Carra23, might get him to sit in the rooms with the club next time as it’s what we said: - the rationale to do it given revenues is weaker - look at alternatives first such as sponsors - lead the way and do it different than other clubs.

"I just don't think you need the fight with the supporters over it. There's no gain." #LFC legend Jamie Carragher has urged club owners Fenway Sports Group to drop plans to raise ticket prices, arguing the financial benefit is outweighed by fan anger. liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football…

@PaulSenior1 There’s a few people that had a different experience in ‘97 that wouldn’t speak as positively but thought they were great last night and the other two recent visits. Both in the ground and around town.

What’s annoying about the fake news on the way the silence was, throughout their history PSG fans have admired LFC. Always very respectful, have always made nice gestures towards us as a club. The story to tell with the relationship between us and PSG should be a positive one.
Lewis Steele@LewisSteele_

PSG had the best away end at Anfield this season. Never stopped singing, dancing, were very loud. Impeccable during the silence (don’t believe people telling you otherwise), clapped during the Diogo Jota song. Luis Enrique a class act too and a truly elite coach. 🇫🇷

@jrewingL4 He was a bad divvy. The experience meeting him as SoS, the way he spoke about fans, involvement in footy stuff Which is why it’s all the more remarkable he’s saying this!

Still will never fully get or understand the disdain for Purslow all these years on tbh. He got dogs abuse back in the day for I am not exactly sure what really even now.
Jay McKenna@JayMcKenna87

It’s fair to say I’m not Christian Purslow’s biggest fan. He and organised supporter groups at LFC haven’t exactly seen eye to eye. And yet here he is, like us, questioning why LFC are increasing prices and increasing prices over multiple seasons in his podcast

@manutd0568 @anon_opin It’s the opposite. John’s aunt Mimi had a go at him for putting more of an accent on. It was seen more refined to speak without an accent to get an office job on Castle St. The Beatles made the accent cool(er)/acceptable & the bankers soon had it and we’ve never looked back, lad

London has a far greater claim to The Beatles than Liverpool. They recorded all their albums there, and wrote all their best songs there. They were good in spite of being from Liverpool, not because of it. London made them.

There is no greater British epitaph than "nice bloke". At the end, that's what you want people to say about you. Because it says so much. And Gary Mounfield *was* a nice bloke. When so many people in music aren't. We should all be bit more "Mani" .

Awful. A lovely man with a lot of time & nice things to say about us down this end of the M62. Fond memories of a night watching The Farm/Mondays in a box at the MEN with him. He swapped a Justice badge (which he wanted) for his FC Utd badge (not as wanted) with one of us RIP 😢
