@jstewartIndy @mass_ave Like all misguided government policies: “If we throw more money at it, it will get less expensive.” See: medical care and insurance.

@jstewartIndy Those who were yelling, screaming, and hyperventilating about homeowners’ property taxes had no clue of the IN Chamber of Commerce’s ‘power behind the throne.’

You cannot go anyhwere in the US anymore without feeling taking advantage of. Every restaurant, every lease agreement, every purchase. Everything is so blatantly predatory. Like they don't even care to be subtle about the fact that they're operating in bad faith. And we're all just submissive to it

@RobMKendall Most People aren’t going to be happy with local income taxes (LIT) in the offing. LIT will seal property tax ‘reform’ as having been pointless, and a giveaway to ‘small biz’ and IN Chamber of Commerce.

That sound you just heard was Bobby Jones rolling over in his grave… On live ESPN telecast of the Masters Par 3 contest, Hoatong Li just dropped an F-bomb while taking a photo with Kevin Hart. I love the Par 3 contest, but things are getting a bit out of hand for @TheMasters

@KurtSupeCPA Month 4: "I reached out to a few old contacts." Month 6: "Nobody's really biting." Encapsulated: They forget about you the moment you walk out the door. That's reality. Reality is life-affirming, and OK.

"I'll retire but do some consulting. Keep busy. Make a little money." I hear this constantly. Here's what can happen: Month 1-3: Loving it. Freedom. Travel. Sleep. Month 4: "I reached out to a few old contacts." Month 6: "Nobody's really biting." Month 8: "I did one project. $4,000. It was fine." Month 12: They stopped mentioning it. The consulting plan that was going to generate $30,000/year generated $4,000. Here's why it almost always falls apart: Your network retires too. The industry moves on faster than expected. Nobody wants to pay consulting rates for something a $55,000 employee now does. They wanted to feel like they had a safety net. The $30,000/year they planned for was never in the financial model. But they retired as if it was. If your retirement plan requires income that doesn't exist yet, it's not a plan. It's a hope.

@jstewartIndy @RobMKendall Hoosiers have no clue of the LIT onslaught that is coming soon. The property tax rabble-rousers accomplished $-0- beneficial. Except helping the IN Chamber of Commerce push ‘small biz’ giveaway over the goal line. GOP leadership may soon toy with increasing 7% sales tax, too.

Not that there haven’t been several over the last 20 years, but if this NCAA Tournament isn’t a significant “get your shit together” wake-up call for the Indiana basketball program, I’m not sure there will ever be one.

@jstewartIndy @indystar Mayor’s Action Line was nice enough to downgrade their portal for reporting potholes. I tried to load it up with many the city is clearly ignoring. Portal bacically reads…”call back later.”

Indianapolis REFUSES to take accountability for their many potholes when they DAMAGE your vehicle. When people don’t report potholes, it gives them an out. Indy should use AI to detect potholes BEFORE they WRECK your vehicle. Read my latest for @indystar below 👇

@dandakich Pre-1984 upper deck was often closed for seating. Pre-Harry Caray, Jack Brickhouse would encourage “plenty of good seats-stop on by if you’re in the neighborhood.”

@T_1Eyed_Phelps @ChronicHoosier Dramatic player departures (Reed, Collier, Recker), 4 1st game bumps in 6 years, ‘Mickey Mouse’ press conference, new sheriffs in IU Admin, zero tolerance. etc. made ‘95 thru 2000 challenging. Big 10 and others seized on IU’s slippage after 1994.

@ChronicHoosier Honest question - when did the standard change? Knights last 6-7 years were all exits in the 1st or 2nd rd to extremely inferior teams. Davis got us to a inprobable title game game run in ‘02 and after that the last run was in 2011-12, followed by 2012-13, 2015-16.

The standard is the standard & it's fallen waaay too far. That has to change now. It begins by ensuring EVERYONE is accountable for doing their damn jobs. There's far to much pride, far too many resources, and far too many means for it to be what it's become. FIGURE IT OUT. #iubb

@NILnotNLI #31 Reggie Miller, in his prime with the #Pacers, was at the game as his fellow #Hoosiers in the RCA Dome united to help rally the Tigers from the Ivy League over his Bruins in a #Hoosiers-like thriller. Great times in Indy.

Indianapolis's biggest push to make the city net zero by 2050 just took a hit from state lawmakers. Still, some experts have hope there is a loophole. indystar.com/story/news/env…

@Schultz975 Those programs, to say nothing of Gonzaga, Villanova, (dread) UConn, got beyond IU by leaps and bounds after 1994. IU put down Duke at Sweet 16 in 1987, when IU and Knight were the big brother to Duke & Coach K. In particular, IU v Duke fortunes turned sharply after ‘87.

I gave up on IU being Kansas, UK, Duke, or Carolina ever again a long, long time ago, but there is zero excuse for a program with their resources and advantages to miss the NCAA Tournament 80% of a decade.
bz1585@bz1585

@Schultz975 The program is not close to being a blue blood. That is ancient history. Not a destination any more. Just an average college program at best. Nothing will change next year

I wouldn’t be stunned if IU declined a potential NIT. Not because “they’re Indiana”, but because their roster will be rebuilt. Not just tweaked.

@Schultz975 Purdue’s annual formula-run it back every year (like the Colts)-appears to not be working. IU’s annual formula-empty the roster and refill it with spare parts-has never worked. And has been tried repeatedly.

@mass_ave Neither Indiana's 'freeze/thaw cycle' or 'urban/rural road funding formula' results is to blame for Indy's potholes. Political antipathy to motorists is visible on all Indy's roads. No efforts by City Hall and IN Gen Ably to make roads better. Except those bounding Lilly's HQ.
