I absolutely get why rivals want City to win the league - it's so they can dismiss their own shortcomings as a 'yeh but it's City', the implication being the money, the backing etc. That excuse falls apart when it's not City, it could have been your club but it's not.

The fact that VAR can review something for 10 minutes and decide to rule out a goal because a striker’s nose is offside but cannot give an evident penalty for a foul in the box is why the whole system is so laughable.

Reminder: The cup final result won’t define the title race, narrative will always follows the season outcome. Win the cup, lose PL: Arsenal over celebrated. Lose the cup & win PL: The defeat fuelled them Win both: Carabao was the springboard for success. It’s all bollox.

At some point, senior Premier League execs have to offer a proper explanation in public for their leniency towards Chelsea. They owe an explanation to fans of clubs punished more harshly. They owe an explanation to those clubs who did abide by the rules. They have to offer some explanation as to why PSR breaches are deemed far more serious than acts of "deception and concealment". Yes, these are the offences of a previous regime at Chelsea. But inconsistencies run through the PL's defence and their reputation is damaged. They can’t hide from a controversy of this magnitude.
