@tom_shepperd @pubaaaas And how many so-called "receive programming" games are out there? It's ok to have different opinions on art, I don't love mixtape as much as other games I've played but I definitely like it. Idk about annapurna Ellison but I'll judge the art first then producer (artist)

@pubaaaas It isn't novel though or reinventing something but I don't get the hate. It's technically sound, the writing is dumb but sometimes half decent, it's not trying to be planescape torment. It's just tryna project a perspective to communicate a message or an idea. That's... Cool imo

@pubaaaas I haven't completed the game, only been through roughly 2 hours of it but so far I haven't found anything as thoroughly offensive as some comments on the web have been. I think it's an ok game interactive movie even, I wanna see variety in the industry trying new things.

@GenePark A lot of minority devs are limited in their scope and budget. That being said some great experiences get through like Venba from 2023. The game follows a Tamil speaking Indian kid growing up in Canada struggling to retain his culture. It was a good short and sweet time.

Mixtape connected with me hard too. It asks us to consider what's left unsaid, and I thought about the people who never knew how I felt until it was too late. Yes it's through a specific white suburban lens, but it also summons a reflection back to you. washingtonpost.com/entertainment/…

Now that Prey and Dishonored are getting so much wonderful attention, we have to say (again) what a huge impact these games have had on us. While we can’t hold a candle to them with RetroSpace (we are making a little indie game after all), we still hope that, in some way, we can carry the torch forward in a worthy manner. #dishonored #prey #arkane #immersivesim
