.@nita_clarke: There's a lot of mixed messages about how hybrid should work - but the clock isn't being turned back, with IES research suggesting 7 out of 10 people wanting to remain working in a hybrid pattern. #futureofwork

.@tonywilsonIES: we are seeing significant rises in worklessness for older people. Reasons for the large rises is primarily 'early retirement', but often not out of choice and better support is needed to bring this group back to the labour market. #futureofwork

excellent @tonywilsonIES as always @EmploymtStudies annual conference, incl. great analysis shows apart from accomm/food services, no correlation between vacancies in a sector and level of pay awards. Why not employers and HR? Also raises is this a rec or skills crisis or both?

. @tonywilsonIES We're seeing a really significant rise in overemployment, people working more hours than they want to. Overall, this is a different crisis to the one we expected, recruitment & participation shortages are at the heart of the issue. #futureofwork

Question: Should public policy support transition in low skill sectors? @tonywilsonIES: Yes - but it needs to be more than apprenticeships, we need better and well designed workplace training & investment in careers services & support, especially for older workers. #futureofwork
