It's interesting to see the 'Kenyan exceptionalism' myth at play. Kenyans aren't just enough in South Africa to cause problems. We are less than 27,000 while Nigerians are estimated to be upwards of 600k. Also, what's the Kenyan culture that we export abroad? Are we united?
BRAVIN YURI@BravinYuri

I came across this post on Facebook and all I can say is that you should all be proud to be Kenyans. There is however a very interesting pattern in the response. Kenyans are known as law-abiding citizens. We also lay low when we are not home. We adapt. Quite interesting. 🧵

This question is often asked from an unfortunate place. We think that some languages are official & others aren't. In west Africa, pidgin is integrated into their national language. Creole rules Haiti but in Kenya, we still deride sheng' instead of developing it to be mainstream.
Ignatius@ignyharaz2

How do you genuinely react to this?

My dear fellow sons and daughters of Mungu, I promise you that "tourism" is a false god that brings you no prosperity. It a fake pseudo-industry that creates next to no actual wealth for the people and places it exploits, and reduces the value of said people to mere trinkets and experiences. The worst part about this video is that the only time it shows any black people is only where they are an aesthetic backdrop to the "magical experience" being advertised. The subconscious message being passed is that all of Kenya and its 99% black population are just a temporary experience for rich white people to enjoy. You can draw a straight line from messaging like this to the existence of large numbers of abandoned mixed race children in Kenya. Everything there - including the buxom damsels - is meant to be a "magical experience" after all, and magical experiences never last long. For the love of God, leave tourism alone and build factories, power stations, factories and more factories like every other nation that escaped poverty has done. Give Kenyans access to real productive power and wealth, and stop advertising these beautiful African people as aesthetic landmarks and busty bed warmers to muzungus who are having their post-divorce midlife crisis.🤦🏿‍♂️

Okay, how are you addressing a Kenyan diplomatic position question to a diplomat of a foreign nation when you could easily get people like @SingoeiAKorir & other foreign policy experts who can state the Kenyan position even through a call in the studio?
Capital FM Kenya@CapitalFMKenya

Fellaris Wambui: We have very strong diplomatic relations with Isreal but also have strong relations with Iran. So where does that leave Kenya in this conflict? Israeli Ambassador to Kenya, Gideon Behar: It is the Iranian regime that is the bully and the aggressor in this case. Israel is a close friend of Kenya. #CapitalIntheMorning @blinkypenguin @ChikoLawi

Denzel Washington played Steve Biko Morgan Freeman played Nelson Mandela Jennifer Hudson portrayed Winnie Mandela Don Cheadle portrayed Paul Rusesabagina Forest Whitaker played Idi Amin Danny Glover played Kwame Nkrumah Eriq La Salle portrayed Patrice Lumumba And the list goes on… For decades, African American actors were cast to portray African figures, and we did not complain the way you are now… Get over it!

You zone Luo Nyanza with less than 40 MPs but you forget other regions (Western, Nairobi, Coast, part of Rift Valley etc) that filled the ODM legislative bag. When we criticize this man who's negotiating from a position of weakness for his own interests we are called names!
TheStarKenya@TheStarKenya

UDA will not field candidates in Nyanza after President William Ruto and ODM boss Oburu Oginga reportedly agreed on zoning for the 2027 polls. The Star has established that Oburu disclosed the plan to his allies during a closed-door meeting of Luo Nyanza politicians on Saturday. the-star.co.ke/news/2026-02-2…

@MuthoniMystic Behavioural science in public policy is such an underrated area especially in Sub Saharan Africa yet it has the potential to radically change our approaches to public policy. I'm almost done with my MSc Behavioural Science & I can't wait to apply it in public policy spaces!

What does this mean? To mourn with dignity? Whose dignity? Yours or ours? Have you seen the Legio Maria dance? Have you seen the names we use to describe our lovers?: "Chunya" is MY HEART. My wife is "Min Oda", which translates to the MOTHER OF MY HOUSE. "Jaber" is THE PRETTY ONE. "Rambanya" is THE ONE WITH THE GAP BETWEEN HER TEETH. A lover was never just a lover, God never just God, and DEATH NEVER JUST DEATH. Luo is a robust culture and it is reflected in its practices and language. And this robustness will be executed in life, love, worship, and death. More so, in the death of its icons, because that is when the spirits are at their optimal. If your spirits lead you to eat ngumu and call it a day, do just that. Don't bother us with this bland dignity. We know our culture. We know what is expected of us. And that we will do- WITHOUT APOLOGY! This culture does not exist to appease many presidents and their suits. It existed long before them and will outlive them all. Those who matter are here. And we matter most because we exist in the culture. You go mourn with dignity kwenu. When that day comes, you can tell us how to mourn. If all it takes is a groan and a few nose blows, we will groan with you. Or -at worst - ignore, if our spirits forbid the underwhelming theatre. We will not tell you your ngumus are too stale - or your tea too thin - if that is all it takes to escort your loved one into the next world. Each according to their capacity. Each according to the weight of its dead. We do not mourn for the visitors. We mourn our dead. Those who wish to join are welcome, but their presence is not compelled. And will certainly not be missed. We carry leaves to waft the evil spirits away. We wail to lament the injustice of death. In rolling, we are not trying to scare you. It is a protest of this dark cloud that has befallen us. Don't be so afraid: it is just a dirge.
Makau F. Mully@MakauWaMuli

Many Presidents missed Raila Odinga's State Burial Ceremony because of fear of possibility of violence. My Lake people let's learn how to mourn with dignity.

"Religion, as I’ve pointed out before, is as much as about economics as it is about faith. The economics of religion in Africa is, in this sense, the economics of how communities insure, educate and organise themselves when the state is thin and modernity uneven" Johan Fohurie
