I had a giant 9 foot tall poster of this cover in my bedroom.
Went to see them at Leeds Met on the album tour it's still the loudest gig I've ever been to. My mate @dannyhelicopter's hair was flapping in the wind and our noses felt like they were about to collapse. Incredible.

@tdwoodhead I'm almost almost certainly clouded by the nostalgia of getting SF first and the impact it had on my puny baby brains. Can't remember first listening to the others but vividly remember first listening to SF! Gonna relisten to Yanqui though. Forgotten whats even on it!

@dannyhelicopter Yanqui just *sounds* way bigger and better imo. Skinny Fists was clearly made on more of a tight budget and suffers for it. Too many concessions to rock expectations on SF (listen to the bass abd drums) wheras Yanqui embraces space much more. Albini the perfect engineer for them.

@tdwoodhead Haha. Skinny Fists for eva fool!! Yanqui is great too though. Need to listen to that again. Not sure I've actually listened to the more recent stuff yet. I remember enjoying Mladic from Don't bend ascend. Lets' face it, they are probably all stone cold bangers!

I have a clip of John Conway's top tip, which is "to stay aged 4 for your whole life". I played it to my younger son on his 5th birthday. Not sure he fully appreciated it.
John played a big role in helping an ex-physicist fall in love with maths.
