$ASTS Here’s a quick story for you all. A little over a decade ago I was working at a top 5 U.S asset manager when they started amassing a large position in Twitter which was publicly traded at the time. The thesis was that the property was so unique and under monetized that there was a minimal value the market would put on it before either they figure out how to monetize it or Twitter get bought out etc. Over several months, my firm became a top 3 shareholder with the stock getting down to 11-12b in market cap, which at the time was tiny compared to where Facebook was valued. Sure enough the market ended up rewarding them handily. The reason why I bring this up is because sometimes you have to think this way to stay in a position like AST Spacemobile. They are only 1 of 2 unique companies that have a full SCS license to operate a constellation for satellite broadband and they are the only company that has 5G/6G capabilities from Space. That along with the spectrum rights they own gives us a minimal value. When you compare AST to the 23b AT&T and 22b Space X paid for spectrum, along with the Amazon buyout of Globalstar for 11b you arrive at the conclusion that 25b give or take 10% should be a minimal value for this asset. Can argue higher given the unique IP AST has, but there is certainly a minimal value here. In my opinion, management is doing just about everything they can to screw with the markets confidence that they can execute, but none the less the market can’t continue to sell a property this unique with upside potential into the trillions if they figure out how to build satellites and ramp their production cadence. Can’t believe this is where we are, but it is and we have to be honest about it, not cheerleaders. Maybe they’ve figured it all out and a week from today they will tell us that, but the market doesn’t believe anything anymore, as obviously seen by the current valuation which is a minimal liquidation value. /End
