The Munger Test. Can Flare Survive It?
The late Charlie Munger – Warren Buffett’s legendary right-hand man – hated cryptocurrency. He called it "rat poison" and a "venereal disease." Many crypto enthusiasts laughed at him, dismissing him as a dinosaur who simply didn't understand technology.
But was he wrong about the fundamental issue?
Munger had one ironclad investment rule: Look for assets that generate Cashflow.
For him, gold was pointless. He used to say, "It just sits there and looks at you." An ounce of gold in 10 years will still be the same ounce. It doesn't "birth" anything new. Bitcoin? To him, it was pure speculation – an asset that produces natively nothing tangible, where profit depends solely on finding someone else to buy it for a higher price (The Greater Fool Theory).
Munger only recognized investments that operate like a business: they have a product, customers, and generate dividends from real activity. Let’s be honest: 99% of the crypto market fails this test. It’s a casino.
But does @FlareNetworks fail it too?
The Company and The Product
Let’s shift our perspective. Don’t look at $FLR as a gambling chip, but as shares in a tech company, "Flare Networks Inc." Does this "company" have a product? Does it have Market Fit?
Flare is building its Unique Selling Proposition (USP) as the Blockchain for Data.
1. The Foundation of Truth (FTSO): Most blockchains are "blind" – they must trust external companies (oracles) to know the price of the dollar or euro. Remember Venus Protocol or BonqDAO? These are textbook examples of what happens when you rely on single-oracle failures or price manipulation. Flare eliminates this "single point of failure." It has a price oracle built directly into the core of the network, based on decentralization. This provides the data security that institutions require.
2. Unlocking Capital (FAssets): Here, Flare finds its "blue ocean." Billions of dollars are sitting frozen in assets that do not support smart contracts (like Munger’s gold – they aren't working).
- XRP (Already Live): As of September 2025, FAssets for XRP are on Mainnet. This is a fact, not a promise. XRP holders can finally participate in DeFi and generate yield. Capital that was "lying fallow" has started to work.
- BTC and the rest: This is the next step. Following the upcoming Flare 2.0 upgrade, the network will open this highway for Bitcoin and other non-smart contract assets as well.

A date every Flare investor should know by heart: January 30, 2026. On this day, the FlareDrops program ends. The $FLR token enters the age of maturity.
What does this mean? The end of the aggressive distribution ("printing") era. This doesn't mean the end of rewards – yield will still be paid from a dedicated pool, but the rules of the game are becoming healthier.
Inflation will be strictly capped (5% annually), and more importantly, it will be reduced by a burning mechanism from transaction fees.
The goal is clear: with sufficient adoption and network utility, Flare has the chance to become a deflationary asset. It’s a shift from "quantity" to "quality."
Larry Fink, AI, and The Missing Link
Let’s go back to the top of the financial pyramid. Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock, said words that will define the decade:
“I believe the next generation for markets, the next generation for securities, will be tokenization of securities (RWA).”
But giants like Ethereum or Solana are "blind" to the outside world. They don't see data from the Nasdaq exchange or banking systems. Enter the Flare Data Connector (FDC) – the technological missing link. It is a bridge that allows for the secure, decentralized verification of Web2 data on the blockchain. It is also the foundation for AI, which needs clean data (Garbage In, Garbage Out) to make financial decisions.
Summary: Capital is Time
Charlie Munger probably wouldn't buy FLR anyway. He was stubborn and old-school. But paradoxically, Flare is the project that comes closest to his ideal of "value investing" in this digital circus.
- It builds a moat (Data Technology).
- It solves a real business problem (RWA and AI).
- It aims for a model where yield is backed by utility (Cashflow), not a printer.
My thesis on "shared growth" isn't based on wanting to buy expensive toys. It's about something more valuable. For me, Flare's success and building the right capital has one goal: Buying Back Time. Today, this analysis is an "after-hours" passion. If my thesis holds true, the accumulated capital will allow me to switch from a "passenger" role to a full-time creator.
