There was three in all and they’re all alive, though two aren’t nearly as gung-ho as the one. I’ve given them some water and am planning to keep them inside over night. Soon as they’re up and running though I’ll let them go down there at the nest site at night.

This cold snap has the nighttime lows in the mid 40s and that had me worried a bit too. Anyhow, this afternoon I just got this sick feeling like I needed to dig them up. I start digging and sure as shit they’re hatched off in the ground and trapped in that packed clay.

A Chinook flew over while I was walking the dog and I had a Radar O'Riley moment while it was still in the distance because I could tell immediately it wasn't the cop helicopter
