Issues matter because people matter, and issues affect people. But this election was about more than disagreeing on issues. I disagree with Trump and Harris on certain issues. This election was about principalities and powers - racism, patriarchy, xenophobia. This is not just about Trump. Certainly he has unleashed some of our worst demons. But this is bigger than one man. It is about spiritual and systemic powers that seek to harm some of our most vulnerable neighbors. “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in high places.” (Ephesians 6:12) This election was about what kind of country we are and what kind of country we want to be. So today we grieve. But tomorrow we organize. We cannot stop believing in a better world. We cannot stop dreaming, and laughing, marching, and singing. Hard days are no doubt ahead of us… but we have each other. And we have a God who is always near to those who feel crushed, beaten down, dishonored, dehumanized. And no matter how much our opponents hate us, we will still choose love. We cannot give them the power to make us hate. No matter how many times they put us in jail or threaten our lives or try to deport our neighbors, we will still love them, even as we resist their bigotry. We will wear them down with our love. Let us not forget, we are also fighting for them. We are working for the day that all of us are free from hatred and fear and the thirst for power. When love wins, there are no losers. We got this.

WARNING: MATURE CONTENT I like to think of voting and VOICING. Think about it. You may not get the opportunity to preach to a million people like Billy Graham or Pastor a church of 10,000 like Charles Spurgeon - but God has called each of His true children to take advantage of every opportunity (talent) that comes along. This is how we are proven to be obedient and faithful and a good steward over what he has placed before us in every area of life. to be obedient to the opportunity presented is how we show ourselves both faithful to God and at war with wickedness. As messy and as dirty as this year's election is, I am grateful that God is using it to separate the wheat from the chaff, the Christian from the almost Christian. There is one thing for sure here in California. There's no gray zone any longer for a pretender to hide. The gloves are off and the lines have been drawn. There are those who will - against all odds and against all rhetoric against all the noise will still choose to vote to honor God with a biblical worldview decision (Pro0Life) when they vote, and by doing so, they will be VOICING the will of God. Sadly, the vast majority of those who profess to be Christians will not vote at all. They will take the opportunity that God has given them (in this constitutional republic) and they will bury the opportunity in the ground or hide it under a bushel. What took me four paragraphs to say, Bonhoeffer - the Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, and Spy said in two sentences. "Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act." ― Pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer "To not vote is to vote. And to not vote is to fail to do righteousness. Evil will always fill the void, and in this case, the "Christian" who doesn't vote creates a void so that evil might advance. Maybe you don't believe me - take a look at California, where there are millions of "Christians" who are eligible to vote, but they do not vote and then they wonder why things are so evil here. Instead of doing good by voting the bad people out, they think it's easier to pack up a U-Haul van and drive away, only to re-locate their apathy. gotquestions.org/Christians-vot…

@mattnightingale Who was it who said we become what we worship? If one worships an angry and vengeful god, it makes sense that one would find meaning in also being angry and vengeful.

Matt Nightingale is trying to keep the faith.
I’m genuinely curious about the people replying to this tweet. What’s their motivation for being so awful? What goes through their minds as they reply with such immaturity and hatred? Is it just cathartic for them? Or do they think they’re serving God or somehow evangelizing me?

Welcome to Pride Month, where conservatives will haphazardly use the term "sexual proclivities" to refer to our LGBTQ+ identities all month.

Aren’t you the guy who divorced his faithful, loving wife and then narcissistically paraded her around in speeches to publicly affirm your sexual proclivities while you shamed her in front of thousands?

@mattnightingale He was just up here in Seattle. I recently suggested maybe he not come and he responded with some unkind remarks. Kind of a narcissist, that one.

A fantastic weekend celebrating Gig Harbor at the Maritime Festival, and also out in neighborhoods talking to voters. Praying for those hurt and impacted in the collision at the Maritime Parade yesterday, and grateful for the incredible work of our first responders.
