In Britain, we tax work more than wealth — unfair and bad for our economy. A 2% tax on assets over £10m would start to fix it. If any unpatriotic billionaires want to run off, fine — sell up to someone who’ll pay and face an exit tax on the way out.

@JoeTegtmeyer Didn’t people say the same thing about keyboard buttons on cellphones (aka BlackBerry). As a former BB user, I hated the idea of not having the physical button keyboard. Then I adapted and never looked back.

I know, I know … but this isn’t what you think. But yes, STRONG feelings and opinions ahead alert. It has been a very long time since I’ve posted about a subject that has generated such huge discussion, passionate replies, and actually some pretty interesting insights into how people see transportation, their desires for vehicles, and where they see the future of autonomy. The @Tesla Cybercab and the hot topic of if it will or will not have a steering wheel and pedals appears to be a lightning rod topic right now, without a doubt. But whether it will or will not a steering wheel is present seems to be a bit of a side show as I think a deeper discussion is actually being triggered by this and that deeper issues are: “Is there a large enough demand for fully autonomous vehicles that have no manual driving provisions big enough to justify the Cybercab design, production, and market acceptance?” “Is this the right move for Tesla, or is a “bridging” strategy a better way forward until acceptance of full autonomy is more pervasive?” On my Subscriber, YouTube and Patreon accounts, there seems to be a few commonalities or trend lines that are interesting … here is a summary of these opinions: Most people like the design and overall features of the Cybercab and really like the styling (and are already thinking of ways to customize it to their tastes) Many people want (really, really seem to want) a lower cost vehicle and see Cybercab with a steering wheel as the best way to do this (many think the Model 3, Tesla’s smallest car currently is still too big and expensive) There seems to be pent up demand and people are ready to spend their hard-earned cash to buy a Cybercab, but with a way to manually drive it Many people appreciate the goals of autonomy, but don’t want to feel boxed in by decisions that give them no option to manually drive and use autonomy “on demand” Most people look at a wide range of specific use cases where they perceive autonomy not being able to work and believe there is always a need for some form of manual driving capability A lot of people believe it will take far longer than Tesla anticipates for fully autonomous vehicles like the Cybercab without manual driving capabilities to gain regulatory & public approval, which will limit the production and fielding of Cybercab Many people leaving comments (even Tesla owners that use FSD) remain at least somewhat skeptical unsupervised autonomy will be truly possible for at least 5 more years Please note … this is meant to be informational only as I know this topic brings up very strong feelings … however, I think it might be be at least prudent for @Tesla to consider the apparently strong feelings of their customers (and possible future customers) about what they are looking for and to correlate this to actual data already on-hand, for example with FSD take rates.

My Dad had a cool thought after riding with FSD in the Cybertruck today. Tesla should have preprogrammed "tours" in cities where it'll take you along a designated sightseeing route. Would be cool if it had an audio track to narrate what you were seeing.
