@thebradybutch @alaskastardust genuine question. by your logic, is reactive abuse a myth? are women who commit violent acts against their abusers just as bad as the abuser? are folks who abuse food stamps reason to assume all folks on welfare are scammers?

@thebradybutch @alaskastardust can women become indoctrinated by a system rooted in their own oppression? yes. can they perpetuate these ideologies, contributing to further harm amongst women? yes. this is literally what systemic oppression aims to do.

I hope younger women know that when an older woman says to you, “your standards are too high, you’ll never find a man who meets them” it isn’t really about you, they’re just thinking about all the things they’ve had to settle for

imagine the most critically discerning, intentional, monogamous, perennially-single-yet-chronically-pursued woman choosing YOU as the object of her unconditional devotion and you’re just like, nah

@zoeycyberkitty @vocalcry girl, same. thinking i was the soulmate but realizing i was merely the bridge he walked to get from his old life to his new one was a pain i hope to never know again. silver lining: the lessons, personal growth, & resilience that come from grief & betrayal are mine to keep.

@vocalcry im single but nothing scares me more than a man saying he just got out of a decade long relationship. like am i the soulmate or just the person who walked in when the timer finally hit zero? i’m tired of being the "lesson" before the "blessing" for these men

The electrolyte drink world needs to grow up and stop being scared of tart/salty. Overcompensating with stevia or some other bullshit every time. I’m pissed off

@lioarchives it doesn't matter? that's what we are debating? also, watch the news. watch protests. watch ice kidnappings. if you aren't observing the uprising of women (often vulnerable and unsafe themselves) protecting each other because MEN AREN'T, i question who is the one w/ privilege.

@danzigsdaddy naturally protector or not, it doesn't matter, you need power and safety to do it, most women don't have that and patriarchy is a culture deeply rooted in our society, you need power and privileges to unlearn that🥹

@lioarchives @Check_Later0 ok so - to clarify - OP can make a sweeping generalizaton, and because it validates YOUR experience, that is good. but if i make a different generalization that validates mine, that is bad?

@danzigsdaddy @Check_Later0 yes, that's why, don't come and invalidate someone's experiences by saying "oh but I never heard about it so that means it's not true bsc my experience tell me by and large women are not that" ☺️ Everyone has our own unique experience and it's not the same for others☺️☺️

@lioarchives @Check_Later0 and beyond THAT, i won't be influenced into thinking that the majority of women are not naturally protective of other women, just because some women have had shitty and damaging experiences.

@lioarchives @Check_Later0 listen, just because i haven’t had women tell me to sell myself short in order to get a man doesn’t mean I haven’t experienced patriarchal programming at the hands of women. we were talking about one specific subject. and beyond that, my unique experience.

@Check_Later0 you’re shifting the goalpost here, my dude. you’re also omitting the part where i do indeed acknowledge that women can *of course* be abusers (not what OP was talking about). i don’t live w/ my head in the clouds, i’m just capable of dialectical critical thought.

@danzigsdaddy I disagree with you because you're reinforcing dangerous ideologies that actually hurt women more than protecting them. You can disagree with me but it just sounds like you're refusing to acknowledge women can in fact play a dangerous role in the patriarchy.

@Check_Later0 i’m not ignoring, i just disagree with you. i am speaking in the same generalized terms as OP, with whom i also disagree. to view her generalization as palatable because you agree with it, but mine as dangerous because you don’t, is your own path to walk.

@thebradybutch @alaskastardust there isn’t a world in which i’ll participate in a dialogue about the patriarchy that pins women against women.

@danzigsdaddy @alaskastardust You’ve been very privileged not to experience it & I’m glad! But older women directing their bitterness over the patriarchy at younger women is extremely common. And we definitely aren’t “biologically programmed” to protect eachother, otherwise we wouldn’t be in this mess lol

@Check_Later0 @alaskastardust you’re editing out where i said “by and large” which is another way of saying “generally speaking”, which is a convenient omission here. and yes, i do think that generally speaking, women are predisposed to protecting others, especially today.

@danzigsdaddy @alaskastardust When you start saying stuff like 'women are biologically programmed to protect other women' you're already in dangerous territory because sadly no not all women have an instinct to protect other women and your experiences while valid do not paint other women's experiences.

@Check_Later0 @alaskastardust i’m not ignoring the reality of abuse at the hands of women, i’m responding to the OP tweet re: older women chirping us for high standards in dating and how that is not my personal experience.

@danzigsdaddy @alaskastardust I feel like this is a very dangerous thing to say because you're ignoring how many older women who are very male centered have put other women in danger how many older women think they're competing with their daughters and how many of us have been put down by older women.

a man used to see a woman out of his league and become religious, employed, violent, or king; now he wants someone “safe and soothing", as if love is hospice for his ambition instead of the thing that makes him stand up straighter. return to greatness
