One of the most important games of the year and Raptors are randomly banged up. Really needed CMB to back up Scottie on Paolo duty and then no IQ and RJ means the Magic can collapse the paint all night. Smh.

Iran’s new Supreme leader is not only more radical than his father, but he lost his father, mother, wife, son, his niece, his nephew, his sister, and his brother-in-law in a week. And you expect him to be more friendly to the U.S. than his father? Remember, his father had a religious fatwa AGAINST the development of nuclear weapons If this is a regime change or regime modification operation, so far it’s going terribly wrong

Israel Airport Authority: Contrary to reports, Tucker Carlson was not arrested at Ben Gurion Airport Airport Authority statement: In complete contradiction to the reports, Tucker Carlson and his entourage were not arrested, detained, or questioned. Mr. Carlson and his entourage were politely asked a number of routine questions, in accordance with the accepted procedures that apply from time to time to many passengers. The conversation took place in the VIP lounge, in a separate room, solely for the purpose of preserving their privacy and avoiding it taking place in front of other passengers. No unusual incident occurred, and the Airport Authority strongly rejects any other account of this.

I bet Tucker was "detained" at Ben Gurion because he couldn't answer what the Parsha is this week.

There are always glimmers in Shadi Hamid's writings of a decent thinker, both intellectually and morally. His new book looks promising in that regard. And then you get this utter folly and inanity. It took Shadi a long, long time to find his voice on Iran, and when he did, it wasn't about Iran. It was only about Israel. But that's not the bad part. The bad part is this odd notion that it's hypocritical for Israelis to hope that Iranians free themselves of a regime that tyrannizes them - a regime that has spent vast treasure and lives on tyrannizing, you know, us too. I watched Iranian missiles fly in the sky over my head. My children slept in a bomb shelter for 12 nights, and have had to think about war and danger since October 7. I watched Iran fund the demolition of Lebanon's state capacity via Hezbollah, enable Assad's massacre 600,000 of his own people (he would have fallen early in the civil war but for Iran), and learned over the past two years just how much Iran was involved in planning and funding both Hamas generally and October 7 specifically. Gaza would not now be demolished without Iran's machinations - a point that remains true regardless of how evil you believe the Israelis to be. I support Iranians' freedom from tyrants who would murder my children too, and I support Palestinian freedom from the grip of ideologies that will never do anything but lock in another round of the same endless war. And that's deemed hypocrisy by the brahmins of the American left. While Shadi, his voice now rediscovered, is no hypocrite at all for finally siding with Iranian freedom -- sorry, with kinda almost agreeing that in principle it's not entirely wrong to side with Iranian freedom as long as we make it about Israel. What a broken mental world they live in.
Shadi Hamid@shadihamid

Several things can be true at once. First, that the Iranian regime has been brutal towards protesters and has forfeited its sovereignty. The fall of the regime would be a good thing for Iran and the region and we should all hope that outcome comes about. At the same time, it's bizarre to see pro-Israel hardliners celebrate Iranian protestors and lament the loss of life when they've had no interest in the human rights of Palestinians and have backed Israel's brutal assault on Gazans and our own American ideals of the right to life. Few of those pro-Israel voices have spoken out about the human rights of, say, Saudis, Egyptians, or other groups that have had to live under dictatorship. Why? Because those regimes are friendly towards Israel. So they don't count apparently. The hypocrisy is so brazen that it takes my breath away. They simply don't care about Arab or Muslim lives. What they care about is Israel's uncontested dominance in the region and its ability to subjugate anyone and any nation that disagrees with it.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our friend and partner, @jcbackus (John Backus). John was a profoundly influential figure in the venture community—a co-founder of our firm, a trusted mentor to countless entrepreneurs, and a voice of wisdom and integrity across the industry. His career spanned more than three decades as a builder, investor, and leader, beginning with co-founding US Order, which helped pioneer early online banking, and continuing through his many years supporting rapidly growing technology companies. Beyond his work with us, John dedicated extraordinary energy to public service and thought leadership. He served on the Board of Overseers for the @HooverInst, on the Board of Directors for the @CllSociety, and on the Investment Committee for Stanford’s DAPER Fund. He was a former board member of the @NVCA (National Venture Capital Association), Chairman Emeritus of both the @NoVATechCouncil (Northern Virginia Technology Council) and the @Wolf_Trap (Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts), and a trusted technology policy advisor to several Virginia governors. His insights appeared in The Washington Post, TechCrunch, Fortune, CNBC, Fox Business, and many others. Most of all, John was a remarkable human being—curious, generous, optimistic, and deeply devoted to his family and community. His kindness and clarity of thought shaped our culture, our partnerships, and the careers of many who were fortunate to know him. We will miss him enormously, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family. John leaves an enduring legacy, and all of us at PROOF are committed to carrying forward the values and spirit he brought to everything he touched.

Complete silence from @AnitaAnandMP and PM @MarkJCarney on the bombing of a hospital in Israel. Unlike when @melaniejoly immediately condemned Israel for the false accusation that Israel had attacked a hospital in Gaza.

So the new finance minister is the same as the old finance minister in that he doesn't understand basic economics. Or math. Just because you call it "investment" doesn't mean it doesn't require CASH to pay for it. Where is that going to come from? ctvnews.ca/politics/artic…

What most people don't realize about Israel being at war, is how much of its innovation economy was called up for reserve duty. CEOs, CTOs, VPs of Sales, etc. Dropped everything & went to serve. That's 1 of the secret ingredients for Israel's success as the "Startup Nation". Where else in the world do your startup leaders have this kind of real life leadership experience making life/death decisions. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ From a discussion with @dapshore, full video below.
