Let alone how incompetent, corrupt and how the current PM-designate accumulated his millions, the structural political and economic problems that have crippled the country and made people suffer will not change. He'll be just a tool in the hand of CF making business as usual
Rudaw English@RudawEnglish

Iraq’s ruling Shiite Coordination Framework is set to nominate businessman Ali al-Zaidi for the post of Iraq’s next prime minister, Khalid Walid, a leading member of the Reconstruction and Development Coalition (RDC) led by outgoing Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani, confirmed to Rudaw.

This is laughable! Dual administration has been technically in place since the eruption of the civil war and up until now. To deny this is to fool yourself and no one else. It's your party's and puk's foolish politics that perpetuates this dual administration reality
Peshawa Hawramani@PHawraman

Statement from the Spokesperson of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) In recent media appearances, the leader of a political party made unfounded claims regarding the existence of a "dual administration" within the Kurdistan Region. Furthermore, he presented a series of misrepresentations concerning rumors about the delivery of American weaponry. It is well-established that the Kurdistan Regional Government is a constitutionally recognized federal entity, built upon the sacrifices of our martyrs and the long-standing struggle of the people of Kurdistan. Despite persistent attempts to impose a "dual administration" reality on the region, we will not permit such efforts, and they are destined to fail. Regarding the allegations of weapons being provided by the United States to a specific Kurdish party, the leader of the aforementioned party is attempting to absolve himself of responsibility by accusing others, while his media outlets engage in a systematic campaign of disinformation. If the Americans have provided weaponry to any party, they are fully aware of the recipient. The truth will inevitably be revealed to the public, sooner or later; there is no need for such deception. The leader of this party has no legal or official standing to speak on behalf of formal government institutions. His inaccurate statements will not succeed in diverting suspicion away from himself and his associates. Peshawa Hawramani Spokesperson for the Kurdistan Regional Government April 20, 2026

With the US-Iran war, the US may have accelerated the process towards #multipolarity in global politics, in the sense that China has ensured that the US would not succeed in this war and Iran will have control of the Strait of Hormuz reuters.com/world/china/ch…

The important question is that will the Iranian regime become stronger or weaker in the Middle East as a result of the war? nytimes.com/2026/04/07/us/…

@KamaranMPalani The Iraqi State can't eliminate the threat of the Iraqi militias-Iran's proxies. These are not only militias that can be defeated militarily, they are political actors that constitue the very structure of the state. To change the system, this structure needs to be dismantled

The Iraqi government has made efforts in recent years by organizing forums and summits, aiming to reintegrate into the region and position itself as a bridge builder. In recent weeks, however, Iranian-backed militias have pushed Iraq back to where it started. What makes this threat distinct is that it is both internal and external, embedded deep within the system itself. Hence, addressing or eliminating this threat will reshape the nature and function of the Iraqi state.

Iran is deliberately targeting civilians in #Kurdistan killing a wife and a husband last night in a village near #Erbil leaving their two young kids behind. Iran considers the Kurdistan region as a soft target where it can bombards without repercussions

When did these weapons sent and why in this disorganised way? Why does Trump reveal an op that's supported to be covert? He clealry exposes that group to grave danger as he puts the blame on them for his failure to change the regime. Kurdish political groups denied receiving guns
Rudaw English@RudawEnglish

Trump told reporters on Monday that the US sent weapons to Iranians to use them against their government forces but blamed a group for keeping the guns without mentioning it. "I am very upset with the certain group of people, and they are going to pay a big price for that."

One of the achievements that Iran will keep is the control of Iraq after the war. Iran will continue to keep a tight rein on Iraqi politics and will embolden the militias. This will be a huge political and military failure for the US. ft.com/content/77e518… via @ft

Iraqi Shia militias-the informal institutions and deep state-have been brazenly attacking the formal institutions of the Iraqi state. State capture in Iraq has always been at the informal/formal institutions duality that Iraq has never been able to overcome

Trump seems to be walking away from a strategic pact with the Gulf States based on energy for security that the US has been providing for many years. This will push GCC to look for other superpower security providers, most likely China wsj.com/world/middle-e…

Today, on the sacred day of Newroz, I lost my father. This day, bright with the promise of renewal, reflects his unwavering Kurdish patriotism and the boundless love he held for his homeland. He always told us to hold fast to our land, warning that abandoning it would be unforgivable. My heart is heavy, weighed down by grief. Exiled from my homeland, I bear the ache of not being able to visit him, not being able to sit by his side in the hospital and hold his hand, and not being allowed to bid him farewell in Kurdistan, where he belonged. Yet his spirit remains with me in every memory and every heartbeat. May he rest in peace. I will carry his dreams, honor his wishes, and keep his memory alive always...

In a day like today in 1988, Saddam's warplanes bombarded the town of #Halabja in Kurdistan with chemical weapons and killed 5000 and injured 10000. The long-lasting consequences and traumatic afterlives of people in Halabja have been enormous

Abdullah Ocalan says he spent the night until dawn to remembering Salih Muslim. In his letter, this is how he describes Salih Muslim: "Salih Muslim was a true patriot of the lands of Syria. He knew how to be a full Kurdish with Kurds; an indispensable friend with Arabs; a true brother with Turks. With Assyrians, Armenians, Circassians – every people, religion, and sect – he made establishing a complete humanistic familiarity an inseparable part of his life. He was a cornerstone of Rojava that I always trusted, and he will always remain so. I see him as the twin brother of Sırrı Süreyya, whom we lost in the Peace and Democratic Society Process. On this basis, he will remain the undying star of both our struggle and our peace."
