So, I can finally share the news- my smart display project, the Newt🦎, was accepted into the @crowd_supply program! So excited! crowdsupply.com/phambili/newt

Working on an idea - an ultra low power @adafruit stye "feather" with an ESP32-H2 and extras: a Buck/Boost (TPS631000), Battery Protection (BQ29700), Accelerometer (LIS3DH), and LED Driver (LP5569) w programmable light engine. Thinking about using this for some Matter projects.

@darianbjohnson @MicroQuartz @crowd_supply @CoreElecAU Don't forget that it's easy to run MicroPython on your Newt as well - it might be helpful to run it side-by-side while you develop the CircuitPython version of the RTC library.

Finally getting around building a CircuitPython library for the @MicroQuartz RV-3028 RTC, which is needed for the @crowd_supply Newt. There is an existing micropython library (built by @CoreElecAU ), so I’m hoping heavily leverage that for the CPY build (crowdsupply.com/phambili/newt)

@martinfasani @chiptronCZ @RWB93174525 @fast_code_r_us Yeah… but what happens as the lipo drains below 4V? There are some inexpensive boosters out there that you might want to consider (like the AP3602A). I think having the display at the right specs is safer for long term use (based on my experience).

@chiptronCZ @RWB93174525 @darianbjohnson @fast_code_r_us True datasheet says power supply min. 4.8V But I would like to avoid adding a boost converter so if it runs correctly from a charged LiPo at 4V it will be perfect

Still failing to drive this. Thanks to @fast_code_r_us for the guidance. My Adafruit Sharpmem fork was only for 128x128 LCDs I think. Love this Sharp memory LCD

@RWB93174525 @martinfasani @fast_code_r_us Are you giving the VCC 5 volts? All other pins are at 3.3v

@martinfasani @fast_code_r_us You should be able to change the pixel resolution in the code and it should work. That's all I needed to change when.running on Esp32.

@chardane @adafruit @glowforge 1. Ok yeah, that’s the regular acrylic. The edge lit is thicker (6ish millimeters) and 2. I might give it a try; I’ll report back if I try it

@darianbjohnson @adafruit @glowforge Thanks!! 1. Hmm I think just regular 3mm (ish) acrylic? I believe these are Chemcast brand Cast Acrylic! The engraves def show up nicely! 2. I’ve never tried that actually! Usually I keep the acrylic in the path of the light solid. Would be interesting to see the effect though!

@adafruit And… a “V Hi” pin (like what you have on the Itsy Bitsy boards) would be a great addition to the feather. I can’t exactly see how you would add it without messing up the pin format…

@adafruit So, a RP2040 feather with an ESP32 chip for wifi would be interesting... though I'm not sure that a mini chip would fit (plus, I guess we have the Pico W - though that's not in feather form). And love that you're considering a option with a 18 Pin FPC connector (I think).

RP2040 Feather 'bones' for a few different varieties Adafruit has a line of boards called the Feather series that initially featured the atmega32u4 chip with accessories at the end. We later moved to the SAMD21 chip, which brought CircuitPython capability to the Feather line,

@IkeMoses His duet with Sade (the singer) on “Haunt Me (Live Version)” is great. I think it’s on the Sade Live album (concert from San Diego). And @phontigallo already mentioned “Hope She’ll Be Happier” off Sweetback’s 1st album (Sweetback is/are the instrumentalists from Sade [the band])
