Have also seen some absolutely appalling duds — a friendly reminder to artists that A LOT OF SHOWS THAT ARE GETTING A LOT OF HYPE ARE VERY BAD! AND A LOT OF SHOWS WITH VERY LITTLE ATTENTION ARE VERY GOOD! Keep going, eat an orange, nearly there!

obviously stars are stupid, grow up, what are you six? but i am so annoyed about the absolutely dogshit state of british criticism, particularly in a moment when making the small-scale work has never been harder

i reckon publishing a one star review in a big paper about a show at a small theatre is an act of extreme cruelty and always unnecessary, no matter how bad you thought it was just don't hit send! you aren't helping the art, you aren't helping the audience, how is it useful?

I really liked this. Big recommend.
