The biggest mistake execs make is giving a new product leader ambitious OKRs and then being surprised when they don’t hit them. Product work takes time, and moving metrics takes deep knowledge. Measure on a year scale. Not a quarter.

I just read the @amazonmusic Terms of Use (May 1, 2023). Nothing states that they can remove functionality of playing Purchased Music (limited playlists, etc. ) Someone in Product needs to get up-to-date with legal. It’s really annoying I can’t play music I bought.

@aakashgupta This is unfortunately very apt and true. We are also adults… so if the position is slated for someone, don’t waste the valuable time of other candidates. Unfortunately, there are gaps between now to find talent, and the paperwork in order to handle a requisition.

The biggest problem I see in recruiting: Writing assignments in interview processes where you ghost the candidate afterwards. If you asked the candidate for many hours of free work, at the very least have a call for feedback after.

What’s with these terrible commercials so far for Super Bowl?

When you are gifted in product sense & strategy, a huge downside is that you can often come across as irritated & condescending when a proposal is presented to you. Yes, you can see things no one else can. But, it is vital as a leader to recognize this huge downside & correct it.

@Apple still hasn’t fixed the screentime lag in ios16 where it doesn’t sync right away in cloud. ios15 works fine. To work around, you have to set screentime direct on a child’s device instead of via parent account.

Quit using the phrase “energy trilemma”. The balance of reliability, affordability and sustainability != a trilemma. A trilemma means that there are 3 equally undesirable alternatives. Are the three items desirable?

@shreyas To do it right, it’s a guided conversation. These should be no different than how you interview candidates.

One reason most customer interviews kinda suck is that the interviewer goes into the customer conversation with a structured list of questions and his/her goal is essentially to go through that list of questions in 30 minutes & to diligently capture notes to share with the team.

@shreyas I’m curious why Amazon Alexa isn’t making use of this. Paves the way for actually interaction instead of keyword plays. ChatGPT seems to be decent enough to break a lot of walls down including multi-language comms.

It is possible I am giving Google too much credit here, but I suspect that Google is just slow playing its own version of ChatGPT to avoid PR & political backlash. Optics are much better for Google if their AI just seems like a response to an existential threat from startups.
