@knztheworld ik I keep repeating myself but basically imo while games being a young medium and the industry and consumers basically pushing the same "it's dumb entertainment" view is part of why they aren't seen as "real art" those factors can't be given 100% of the blame, is what I'm saying.

@knztheworld -the average attitude is like "oh there are one or two exceptions but it's for the most part just dumb entertainment" without considering other artforms like film, music, literature, are basically the same.

to me i think video games have been around for too long to really evaluate on the same level as say literature or film. there are for sure video games that deal with complex themes and are intellectually nourishing but those are very few compared to the breadth of older mediums
