Undeniably the most ideal outcome for the Badgers in the BTT. Stuck with top teams in the country without their primary big guy. Didn’t sustain any new injuries. Avoid the 4 games in 4 days for the first time in 3 years.

What a damn weekend for the Badgers. Despite getting virtually no help outside of their own games, the Badgers sweep Penn State on the road and hold serve at 12th in the NPI. I'm not officially ready to call them a lock, but according to both predictive engines they have a >99% shot of getting to the tournament. I think it's safe to shift rooting focuses away from simply getting into the dance to seeding scenarios. Avoiding the 4 seed line would be great, and getting up to the 9th overall would be even better. Full unofficial rooting guide will be out tomorrow. On, Wisconsin!

Best and worst case scenarios for the Badger hockey this week: Worst: Wisconsin gets swept by PSU, OSU sweeps ND and the Badgers get no help from teams outside of the B1G. Not only do the Badgers fall to 15th in NPI, they drop to 5th in the B1G and must head to Columbus to play OSU on the road in the first round of the conference tournament. Best case: Bucky gets a sweep in Hockey Valley, locking up 4th place and home ice against OSU in the first round of the B1G tournament. They get some help from New Hampshire, Northeastern, Lake Superior St and others to slide up to 10th in NPI. Anything from a top end 3 seed to missing the tournament all together is in play. To secure home ice in the first round of conference tournament play, they need to either get one point against Penn St or have OSU drop at least one point against Notre Dame. Buckle up, folks
